Analysis: Trump has used the "madman" strategy to some effect on the world stage.

The downside is when a foe tries to call your bluff. Iran seems to be doing that.

I think those are key words. Would be good to have an independent third party confirming that Iran is truly guilty of these latest acts that it's being accused of (oil tanker attacks and drone attack in international waters and not Iranian airspace).

they're playing into his hands. Rather than appeal to world opinion by allowing Western reporters into Iran to show the people hurt by sanctions, the mullahs in Tehran have decided to lash out. Mining Japanese shipping while the Japanese prime minister was their "guest" was step one. Shooting down a drone just outside of their territorial air space was step two.

Once they knock down a European airliner, they'll have the whole world against them. Then Trump can do whatever he wants to them and get away with it.
