Congressional subpoenas are basically worthless.

* After what could only be described as a rough day, Attorney General Bill Barr has opted to skip the House Judiciary Committee hearing he’s supposed to attend and force us to remember that Congressional subpoenas are basically worthless. [National Law Journal]

Mike Flynn's going to ignore that congressional subpoena and that's the right move.

So here we are. No, Flynn’s not going to honor that congressional subpoena, and until Congress decides to start unilaterally arresting people for contempt (which they theoretically can do!), that subpoena’s not worth the paper it’s printed on.

the fines and jail people?

Democrats would have a better case in an impeachment hearing. They could request that the courts expedite the rulings on contempt for failing to comply with a subpoena because of the upcoming election. They would have a better argument to force Republicans to release documents under impeachment. Barr even stated that he would release grand jury testimony to the House in an impeachment hearing.

Democrats are going to get stonewalled simply holding regular oversight Committee hearings.

need to put real teeth into the subpoena and the seargeant at Arms arrest process. In addition, we need to move any and all Congressional instituted inquiries and ultimate referrals for prosecution away totally from the DOJ and DOJ's AG's office to perhaps a consortium of 2-3 of the regional district judiciaries to ensure fair and impartial hearings and prosecutions.

The Founder's never envisioned that a A.G. or even the entire DOJ would subvert the Constitution, settled law and even Senate/House norms to keep a dictatorial king from ignoring any and all legal processes since the Republic was founded.

This is how far America has sunk under Trump, McTurtle, the entire Repubilscum party and their followers. God save us!
