Analysis: Cruz v. O'Rourke debate
Cruz v. ORourke debate: Beto took first shot with comments on Trump, Cambridge AnalyticaIt was Democrat Beto ORourke who took the first shot in Tuesdays debate, when he attacked incumbent U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz for paying more than $5 million for political services from Cambridge Analytica, the data firm that accessed private data from 50 million Facebook users on behalf of its clients in the 2016 presidential election.
The very company that helped to undermine our democracy, ORourke said.
ORourke also blasted Cruz for failing to stand up to President Donald Trump: He wont stand up to him, and he wont stand up for us.
It was not surprising that the El Paso congressman took the first swipes in the debate, which is a key moment for ORourke to make up ground in a race in which public polling shows Cruz with a narrow lead. The last four major public polls in the race have shown Cruz leading the Democratic El Paso congressman by at least 5 percentage points.

A friend just gave me a Beto prayer candle for "Saint Beto, Patron Saint of Hopeful Texans." Proceeds go to the campaign.
