Sen. Sanders, rein in your supporters: Our view - USA Today
http://www.usatoday.com/story/opinion/2016/05/18/bernie-sanders-vegas-hillary-clinton-editorials-debates/84558644/Angry that Nevada Democratic Party officials wouldnt change the rules to favor Bernie Sanders, his supporters all but rioted in the hotel ballroom where the convention was held Saturday night yelling, throwing chairs and later texting and phoning death threats to state party Chair Roberta Lange.
Sanders' supporters booed Sen. Barbara Boxer, D-Calif., and seemed so out of control that Boxer said she feared for her safety. Security officials shut the convention down when they felt they could no longer guarantee the security of the participants.
Even worse than the entitled tantrums of Sanders supporters, though, was the reaction of the candidate himself. He issued a statement that sanctimoniously lectured party officials about the importance of his campaign and gave short shrift to the violence committed by his supporters.

Sanders accuses party officials of rigging the election process against him, so its little surprise that his angry supporters lashed out against those same officials the way they did. Its up to the candidate to be absolutely clear to even his most rabid supporters that there are lines no one should cross. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., said Sanders response would be a test of leadership. It was, and Saunders failed.

Few things would help Republicans more than a violent, out-of-control Democratic convention in Philadelphia this summer like the one in Chicago that helped elect Richard Nixon as a law-and-order GOP candidate in 1968. Democrats had better hope that what happened in Vegas stays in Vegas.

(15,677 posts)Passionate supporters; push hot buttons intentionally; bring a favorite Senator from the must win State to the stage to supposedly calm the crowd by pushing more hot buttons; then cry foul and claim violence; call in the big dog -- the establishment MSM -- to complete the dirty work; follow up with more claims of violence/threats; Machiavellian job well done -- splendidly.
BTW, those fears about Philadelphia? I'm pretty sure they are well placed. People tend to push back when bullied by "authorities" in case you you haven't noticed. But thge Rs don't need any help -- they got this in the bag.

(27,742 posts)There is no conflict or doubt as reported in any mainstream outlet. They took one story and duplicated it, and in some cases embellished it as they went.
Whether it was due to the Clinton's or not that is what has happened.

(11,495 posts)It would really help the republicans if the Democratic convention turned into a riot. I really think that a lot of the problems that have come up are being don't by right wing operatives who are trying to do just that, cause a riot at the convention. We have a lot of trolls right here on DU working both camps who only try and stir things up and keep the posters here fighting. We need to wake up and stop letting the right wing trolls accomplish their goals.
The only right-wing operatives are the DNC, DWS, and Clinton neo-liberal wing of what was formerly known as the Democratic Party.

It only gets worse, much worse from there.
We are just puppets when we accept this kind of faux "journalism". Or we are complicit in the fleecing of America.
