Heightened security in Winnipeg after attacks on CAF
Source: CBC
There is heightened security at 17 Wing in Winnipeg after attacks on the Canadian Armed Forces took place on Wednesday morning.
A police cruiser is blocking the main gate at the base and 17 Wing is deciding whether they will still have a public goodbye for soldiers scheduled to leave Winnipeg for Iraq on Wednesday to help with Operation Impact.
The operation is the CAF's contribution to the coalition effort against ISIS in Iraq.
Additional precautionary measures are also being taken at the provincial legislature in Winnipeg on Wednesday after a soldier was shot while standing guard at the National War Memorial in Ottawa and another pair were targeted in Quebec on Monday.

Correction - I misinterpreted the report to mean there had been an attack in Winnipeg as well as Ottawa. That is not the case. This closure was a response to the Ottawa attack.
