S.D. Republican Party calls for Obama impeachment
Source: Sioux Falls Argus Leader (Gannett)
The South Dakota Republican Party state convention passed a resolution calling for the impeachment of President Barack Obama Saturday.
The resolution says Obama has "violated his oath of office in numerous ways." It specifically cites the release of five Taliban combatants in a trade for captive U.S. soldier Bowe Bergdahl, Obama's statement that people could keep insurance companies, and recent EPA regulations on power plants.
"Therefore, be it resolved that the South Dakota Republican Party calls on our U.S. Representatives to initiate impeachment proceedings against the president of the United States," the resolution reads.

Delegates voted 191-176 in favor of the resolution.

(45,251 posts)Remember, people in other countries were supposed to look at our occupation of Iraq and say, "Hey, I want me some of that!" And the whole Middle East was supposed to turn.
Of course, members of the Lebanese Parliament were surprised to learn that Iraq was the first example of democracy in the Middle East. Not to mention the surprise of people like the Sultan of Brunei, the House of Saud and the King of Jordan and even Saddam Hussein himself to learn that the US was so zealous about democracy in the Middle East. Not to mention the descendants of the Shah of Iran.

(111,407 posts)Sorry, buddy, but that's just not going to do. You have to come up with specific charges, not quotes from your average, ignorant jackass calling in to your favorite hate radio station.
Watching them scramble for things that weren't started by Stupid during his 8 years and blockaded into place by recalcitrant GOPs in the House and filibuster tantrums in the Senate is going to be a really tall order.

2) Obama's statement that "if you like your healthcare plan you can keep it"
3) New EPA power plant regulations
By the standards of this resolution, George H.W. Bush should have been impeached over "read my lips - no new taxes."
SleeplessinSoCal
(9,167 posts)No way do these charges amount to criminal wrongdoing. They're the duties of the POTUS. Even the claim that "you can keep your healthcare" is dubious because it's all in a day's work in Washington and not the letter of the law.
For comparison's sake, how about "no doubt that there are weapons of mass destruction, lets go to war" Bush? Apparently that wasn't even impeachable. Lying about phalacio under oath? Now that's impeachment material!

(50,571 posts)President Nixon signed the Clean Air Act and the Clean Water Act. Once such a law passes, the government agency responsible for carrying it out (the EPA, in this case), is empowered to create the regulations necessary for the law to work. Those don't have to be approved by Congress - if they did Congress wouldn't be able to do anything else, assuming of course the Congress in session at the time chooses to do anything at all.
You could come up with a genuinely impeachable offense - not BJs but real malfeasance - in just about any administration if you looked hard enough. Reagan and the Bushes were masters at it; reality is that everyone in the Reagan White House should have been removed for violating the Boland Amendment, which prohibited aid to the Contras. This one's open and shut - you can't claim they didn't know what was in the Boland Amendment because Reagan signed it and they HAD to have read it.

YES, Obama is... BLACK!
I found some wingnut disclaimers saying he was a Democratic plant because it was too cold to go without a coat, and showing a cropped photo.
But that's the original picture with a wider view. Look at the men standing next to him with no coats. They own this from not only these kinds of pictures, but from the laws they are forcing on people.

(18,672 posts)In the letters to the editor, some outraged writer listed reasons that meshed perfectly with a typical day of Fox News programing. What a coincidence, everything from Bergdahl to Benghazi, from the economy to veterans health care, he nailed every talking point in Sean Hannity's America why the president has to be forced into retirement to play golf (as he put it).
The overwhelming majority of the US voted for Obama, so now the Republican Party wants to decide who presides over the country. It must be hell for them to realize what it's like to be a minority.

(11,175 posts)Why did 48% of the delegates vote "No"? Maybe because impeachment by the House would mean a trial in the Senate, and the 48% want to skip the trial and proceed directly to summary execution.

If only Pelosi hadn't said "Impeachment is off the table." Ugh. If anyone should have been impeached and charged with thousands of counts of murder, it was GWB and his tribe of idiots.
