San Diego Tea Party Leader arrested for kidnapping, rape

Source: East County Magazine

March 17, 2012 (Lemon Grove)—Lemon Grove resident Michael John Kobulnicky, 50, a leader in the San Diego Tea Party and former regional director of the Southern California Conservative Party, is under arrest for allegedly kidnapping and raping a local woman on Fiesta Island.

“He dragged her out of the car and sexually assaulted her pretty brutally,” San Diego Police Lt. Andra Brown told ECM news partner 10 News in late February, shortly after the February 25 assault occurred.
<snip>
According to his website, Kobulnicky supports Christian values, is a father of five sons, and is co-founder and president of the National Council of Americans, Inc, a nonprofit that helps youths. He also lists prior employment as faculty at California Miramar University, teacher and coach at Val Verde Unified School District, manager of a landscape design company, and more.

His Facebook page indicates he became engaged in early March and planned to be married in April. Kobulnicky, who is divorced, was accused of domestic violence in 2008, San Diego Superior Court records indicate.

What a family values kinda guy--and the right-wing conservatives in his party think a woman who is raped should have to give birth to her rapist's baby if she gets pregnant. Guess they're just interested in propagating their own.

Much more about this guy at the link above.

Her photo is on his FB page and she looks much younger than the victim.

Police were posting surveillance video and asking public help to ID the guy, which clearly means he wasn't known to the victim, a woman who was walking and he offered her a ride home.

Also a good reminder here, never get in a car with anyone you don't know! If you are stranded with car trouble and someone stops, just ask them to call the police if you don't have a phone -- stay locked in your car.

Mar 2012

When the first of these sorts of stories about Teabagger adultery or DUIs came out, it seemed like a good opportunity to make fun of "Republican Family Values" and all that. But this story crosses the line from "behavior that is only noteworthy because conservatives are such hypocrites" into "really sick shit."

I mean, what *is* it with right-wingers? We know from studies that they're more fearful, more dependent on authority to tell them what to do, and often just not very smart. But why is there also a buried streak of violence in so many of them?

Between this and the Florida teen who was killed by a neighborhood vigilante, I'd like to officially declare a moratorium on making light of conservative violations of ordinary, decent human norms. There's something very wrong going on there, and seeing any of it as a source of humor -- or as a way for liberals to score points -- doesn't come to grips with the problem.

An awful lot of what I hear coming out of the 'moral majority' and the 'evangelical Christians' has almost no relationship to the teachings of Jesus. Instead it seems much more firmly rooted in the 'God or wrath, God of vengeance' of the Old Testament. They don't seem to get that the Old Testament was written before the New Testament, and that the teachings of Christ (note: Christ is the root of Christianity) differed significantly from the teachings in the Old Testament. You can't really call yourself a Christian if you ignore the teachings of the guy you supposedly follow.
