Justice Dept. to seek death penalty for Boston bomber suspect
Source: Washington Post
The Justice Department will seek the death penalty for Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, the 20-year-old man accused of bombing the Boston Marathon, killing three people and injuring more than two hundred others in April, according to a former U.S official briefed on the decision.
U.S. Attorney General Eric H. Holder Jr.s decision ends months of speculation in the case. If Holder had instead sought life in prison instead, it might have fueled Republicans attacks that the administration and the attorney general were soft on terrorism.

He has to put the law above his personal beliefs.
there is no law enforcing to decide pro dp

(8,747 posts)So reprehensible the people committing them have lost their right to live. That is my belief, and I stand by it.
Even if the Death Penalty was abolished, the very next thing that would happen is people would start advocating for the abolition of Life Without Parole on the grounds that it was inhumane, and that the murderer really deserved rehabilitation, redemption and release back into society.
Evidence right here....

It's just too bad his throat had that unfortuitous injury because I am sure he would have confessed to the media right there on the spot.

(1,061 posts)There was a lot that bothered me about this whole thing as well. The photos constitute flimsy evidence at best. Operation Urban Shield taking place in the same time and place, footage of the older brother alive and well in police custody in Watertown, the younger climbing out of the boat himself uninjured. The initial reports of them being killed & wounded. The friend who was killed during an interview a while later while wielding the knife/samauri sword/unarmed.
Who were those dozen guys in black at the finish line in Boston? Doesn't matter because there were two foreigners nearby and the authorities say they are to blame. What guilty party plans this out enough to thwart those dozen guys then stays in town a few days?
It WILL be a slam dunk. That was preordained. Throw the switch, case closed.

(5,217 posts)story is easy to disprove just by examining the concrete/pavement at that location .... oh, drat .... they tore that up and replaced it right away.
Foiled again.

(5,217 posts)news cameras, of course there must be hundreds of photos of these two guys without their backpacks. I am sure there is a very good reason why we have only seen one very grainy, long distant, partially obscured photo of one of the guys.

(30,817 posts)I would prefer we didn't have it at all. If it's wrong to kill, then it's wrong to kill.
But if it is on the books and being used, it shouldn't just be reserved for blacks or cop killers. It should be for the most heinous of crimes, committed by the darkest and most unrepentant of souls, like serial killers and terrorists.
