New Jersey's Christie vetoes Medicaid expansion bill

Source: Reuters

Fri Jun 28, 2013 7:46pm EDT

(Reuters) - New Jersey Governor Chris Christie vetoed a bill that would have expanded Medicaid eligibility under the healthcare law known as Obamacare, his office said on Friday, in an apparent reversal of position for the presumed 2016 Republican presidential hopeful.

Christie's office announced he vetoed eight bills that "would add potentially hundreds of millions of dollars to state and local budgets." He also signed a $32.9 billion budget and three other bills, his office said in a statement.

Among the bills he vetoed was a Medicaid expansion under the U.S. Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, President Barack Obama's signature healthcare law known as Obamacare.

With this news as well as his intention to veto gay marriage in NJ, I hope Garden State Democrats, progressives, and even moderates/independents do NOT get tricked into voting for this man for governor! Christie just wanted a PHOTO OP with the president after Hurricane Sandy.

Met him a couple months ago in DC at the Willard Hotel lounge with his 20-something sycophants all around. Disgusting. Short fat twerp. He would kill his family to get the GOP nod, and he no longer has any chance, no matter how hard right he goes.

But this is just cruelty.

So much for standing up for Sandy victims who lost their businesses, homes and jobs. They would have benefited greatly from the Medicaid expansion. Just when he thought he won over the Boss.

The New Jersey Education Association, the state’s largest teachers union, called the loss of the funding "a direct result of Gov. Christie’s misguided decision to hijack the grant application process for his own political purposes."

Use his actions to warn NJ voter with whom they're dealing, if there's any confusion...who knows, we may need to remind the voters in the other 49 states as well. Make him pay!

For example, in Dec. 2012:

Currently, Governor Christie earns a 67% approve to 21% disapprove job rating among all Garden State residents. Among registered voters, his rating stands at 69% approve to 22% disapprove. In September, his job approval rating was in the mid-50s for both groups.

The 85% of Republicans who give the governor a “thumbs up” are joined by 68% of independents and 57% of Democrats. Prior to this poll, Christie had never broken the 40%-mark among Garden State Democrats.

And in May 2013:

Incumbent GOP Gov. Chris Christie has a more than two-to-one lead over state Sen. Barbara Buono, crushing the likely Democratic nominee 60% to 28% among registered voters, according to a new NBC News/Marist poll released Wednesday morning on The Daily Rundown.

Senator Buono has a great opportunity now to expose Christie for the ideological blowhard he is. Buono's campaign should replay Christie yelling at the teachers and highlight Christie's opposition to gay marriage and then his latest move on ObamaCare. These issues will sure overshadow Governor Cartman's post-Sandy photo op with President Obama.

The funny part is he has ZERO chance in Republican primary. The right hates this guy with a passion. Many blame him for Romney's loss. How his handlers think he gets past that is beyond me.
