Czech PM Petr Necas to resign over aide scandal

Source: BBC

Czech Prime Minister Petr Necas has announced that he will resign on Monday after days of political turmoil.

His ruling coalition will try to form a new government led by someone nominated by his Civic Democratic Party.

to tell with any certainty, but I'm thinking it's very likely new elections will have to be held. It'll be interesting to see how the ČSSD and the KSČM do in a new election. In the last elections I can recall here a couple of years ago - a special election - the KSČM (Communist Party of Bohemia and Moravia) did quite well, better than I'd expected.

They're really the only party that doesn't have the whiff of scandal about that, but that's largely because they've been out of power in any meaningful way since 1989. For a long time here, they were anathema; however, the ČSSD has indicated recently that they would be willing to form a coalition government with them. Heh....that news freaked out my ex-wife, a rather staunch anti-Communist.
