Cummings calls Issa’s IRS bluff: ‘I’ll release’ transcripts clearing White House if he doesn’t
Source: Raw Story
......................
Hes the chairman of the committee, were not in power, the Maryland Democrat pointed out. If he does not release them, I will. Period.
Im willing to come on your show next week with the chairman, with the transcripts, if he agrees to do that, he added. But if he doesnt, Ill release them by the end of the week.
Crowley observed that in a portion of the transcripts that had been released, an IRS screening group manager in the Cincinnati office told Issas committee that he had no reason to believe that the White House had ordered the targeting of conservative groups.
He was a 21-year veteran, Cummings said of the IRS manager. He described himself in the interviews in response to a Republican attorneys question as a conservative Republican. Very significant. He is a conservative Republican working for the IRS. I think these interviews and these statements go a long way to showing the White House was not involved in this.

(14,400 posts)a fucking scumbag. Everyone who pays attention knows that he uses the closed hearings simply as a vehicle for screening witnesses to the public hearings.
Hiding the transcripts is pretty much the only proof we need to know exactly why the Benghazi A.R.B. authors refused to speak with this skidmark outside of the public hearing.

(1,254 posts)Those Tea Party witnesses Issa paraded before the hearing last week. Everyone of those witnesses had an agenda at the hearing to go after the IRS, so how much of their testimony was twisted or limited to aid Issa and GOP cohorts. We only heard one side and opinions are not facts. The IRS agents being castigated by these witnesses were not available to explain their side of the process. And ultimately no one of these groups were prevented from carrying out ANY activities and they were granted tax exempt approval WITHOUT ANY CAVEATS. One group testified they were prevented from picketing Planned Parenthood but they left out some key info...in reality the IRS agent specified they couldn't protest if they were going to harass or disrupt and EXPECT TO GET A TAX EXEMPT STATUS. Without putting the testimony in context, it made the IRS agent look like they were trying to stifle free speech. All the agent was doing was telling the group you can't do that as a 501(c)(4) group. Their rights were not denied only their tax status. Again, ultimately these groups were approve anyway.

GOPers knowing that nothing will change and fueling the outrage so can keep the house and try and take the senate opening the door for a GOP president and thereafter a one party system which the general American public regardless of voting will never get them out of power. Gerrymandering, re-districting and down right taking away a block of voter rights.

(31,849 posts)It's a good thing the Congressional Oversight Committee is far more secure than our military and intelligence communities ... otherwise, the transcripts would have been leaked by "hero-whistleblowers", weeks ago.

I could vote for Elijah Cummings. I listened to him answer Martin Bashir's questioning and calling Issa a liar. Mr. Cummings was polite and careful and dignified. I could not tell if he wanted to say "yes, he is a liar" or not, but he made his point well and it was clear that he did not agree with anything Issa was doing.
He's one of a very few I'd like to meet.
I know it must be truly frustrating for him, but I'm glad he's on this committee. I'm sure Rep. Cummings' honor and integrity keeps Issa from doing more harm than he already has.

(8,064 posts)the story will be DROPPED by the press because the press is not interested in finding anything
wrong with the grotesque way the republicans have been trying to kneecap President Obama
and the U.S. tax payers at EVERY SINGLE TURN.
No, the press would rather be OUTRAGED that anthony weiner sent a pic of his underwear to a
grown woman and demand his resignation than to take ONE MINUTE investigating exactly how
the benghazi, IRS, etc. "scandals" were all manufactured by REPUBLICANS.
the press has consistently been CATFISHED by the right and they are apparently too embarrassed
about being tricked to do any investigations into how they got tricked and who lied to them.
