Two 'extremely dangerous' inmates flee Texas jail, possibly only in underwear

Source: Reuters

SAN ANTONIO, Texas —An inmate suspected of strangling a man with shoelaces escaped with a fellow prisoner from a Texas jail on Tuesday, triggering a manhunt for what authorities described as two dangerous fugitives, possibly clad in nothing but their underwear.

"They squeezed their way through the fence somehow," said Sergeant Brad Cummings, a spokesman for the Hopkins County Sheriff's office in Sulphur Springs, Texas, about 80 miles northeast of Dallas.

The men escaped from the county jail recreation yard and their black-and-white prison uniforms were later found on the outskirts of the detention facility, which has a capacity to house about 200 inmates, he said.

"Officers were notified that the two subjects had left the jail, and we immediately set up a command post and notified all surrounding agencies, and all schools within our county are on lockdown," Cummings said.

not saying anyone is, but somehow these things tend to attract groupies and
NO they are not noble, not good, etc. and both are a menace to society.

so they can get state money.

Sometimes it can take up to a couple of months...even though there are multiple prisons within an hour or two. It always comes down to the money.

Every other car is a law enforcement vehicle.

Schools were on lockdown.

Bad thing is, it is going to be cold and raining and storming tonight....and where they might have stayed outside, they might now decide to try to break in somewhere to get warm and dry.

Worst. Jail. Ever.

The idea that they're in their underwear is stupid. They dumped their jail clothes, probably because they had somebody leave clothes there or pick them up.

Well...yeah. I would call it that too.

Lots of the jails around here contract to other places to make money so overcrowding is an issue.

Well if it was July they could be hiding in plain sight on somebody's front porch and never be spotted.

On one of the local boards....someone said truthfully that all they needed to do was roll in the mud and get rid of the tell-tale whites....then they would fit in and not be detected.

the Sheriff Department just released this and, I think it is going to end poorly:

Immediate Warning From Hopkins County Law Enforcement:

Minutes ago a 2010 Black SUV Saturn "VUE," License # CR6D425 was stollen from a residence on Houston Street in Sulphur Springs. The vehicle is also noted to have had a 22 cal. weapon in the vehicle.

"We do not know if this vehicle was stolen by the escapees Tucker and King," related a spokesman for the HCSO.

However, it should be treated that way or that someone armed and dangerous has stolen the vehicle.

If you see this vehicle, please call 911 or the HCSO at (903)4040!

Again, DO NOT APPROACH THIS VEHICLE BUT NOTIFY LAW ENFORCEMENT!!!

Hopkins County Escapees Captured

A capital murder suspect and a convicted drug offender who escaped from a Hopkins County jail have been captured, the county sheriff's office said Thursday.

Brian Allen Tucker and John Marlin King escaped from the jail Tuesday morning by slipping through a hole in a fence. They were only in a T-shirt and boxers after leaving their jail clothes near railroad tracks close to the jail.
