Israel has carried out a strike inside Iran, a US official tells CNN. The attack came just hours after Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian told CNN in an interview that if Israel takes any further military action against it would be immediate and at a maximum level."

All western leaders begged Netanyahu not to this.

And the ethnic cleansing of Palestine grinds on.
What gives here?

(21,584 posts)As far as I know, Israel has not "ethnically cleansed" the 20% of its citizens who are Arabs. But, it is fighting a war against the Iranian backed terrorists who have and still are attacking Israel.
That does not mean that I think Israel should be attacking Iran now. This attack on Iran also does not mean that the US is automatically drawn into the war. Biden has stated that we would not be part of any Israeli attack in Iran.

(2,047 posts)Most call it genocide. And killing over 13,000 children is not self defense.
This is now what Israel will be famous for. Thirteen thousand dead children. Killed for being Palestinian.

(21,584 posts)You are entitled to your opinion on which side, if any, you support in a war.
But, it is a war being fought between Israel and Hamas, who initiated the war.
War causes death, destruction, and famine. It causes people both sides to attack each other to destroy the enemy's military strength.
Palestinian supporters do not like to admit it, but the Hamas war headquarters are in underground tunnels and bunkers beneath (and sometimes inside) civilian sites. The tunnels are real. The locations are real. It is intentional on the part of Hamas in order to protect themselves at the expense of their own civilians.
I do not understand why people who are concerned about Gazan civilians do not direct their anger at the Hamas cowards who hide behind civilians to save their own murderous hides.
Basic LA
(2,047 posts)And maimed for life thousands more. Israel did this. Israel. And everybody knows it. Surviving Palestinian childen are being intentionally starved to death as we speak.
Is that not enough revenge yet? Shall it be genocide then, or just ethnic cleansing?
Big Blue Marble
(5,146 posts)children is because Defense Minister Gallant said at the beginning of the attack on Gaza that Israel would deprive all of Gaza of water, food, fuel, and electricity. They have only allowed minimal amounts of food and other supplies into the strip since then in over six months. 1/3 of infants in Gaza are currently in danger of death from starvation.
When small children and infants are starved, neither their bodies or their brains will develop fully. So even if they survive, their futures have been stolen.
Having read your whitewash of Israeli culpability, one might think that your accusation of basis might be a projection.

for the past six months.
Where are the demonstrations demanding Hamas to be held accountable for its role in the genocide?
Or is it ethnic cleansing?

In the mean time, a less presumptuous matter remains unaddressed: Where are the demonstrations demanding Hamas to be held accountable for its role in the "genocide" of Gazan Palestinians, however peculiar your definition of the term might be?

(21,584 posts)an attack on Iran. I did not hear Biden say that we would defend Israel if they attacked Iran. Got a link?

(5,146 posts)You will find it in this CNN article from Sunday where the administration and the G7 speak
of being there for Israel. I cannot imagine that they would not. If Israel is attacked, and asks
for help, we will give it.

(21,584 posts)but not a specific promise to defend Israel if they retaliate against Iran and Iran retaliated back a second time.
I an not saying that it would be a bad thing to continue to defend Israel against further Iranian attacks, just that I didn't see or hear a specific promise by Biden to defend Israel militarily if Israel returned Iran's attack. My impression was that Biden was working with allies to develop coordinated diplomatic plans against Iran for the defense of Israel. Something like a united front on sanctions.

(54,041 posts)The man just doesn't have the skills to negotiate the narrow path between the Rock and the hard place. Israel needs to retaliate for Iran's attempt at terror, of course. But Bibi is going about it in nearly the stupidest way possible. I don't think he understands the idea of "in the time and manner of our choosing."
It's almost as if he wants a bigger war. I suspect he sees all this as his last opportunity to damage Israel's enemies before the window closes on his career. So he's giving it the old kitchen sink treatment.

(108,170 posts)The Israeli military carried out an airstrike inside Iran, an Israeli official said Friday, in retaliation for an Iranian barrage of missiles and drones launched against Israel. It was not clear what damage the strike caused, but the official who spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss sensitive military matters said it was intended to signal to Iran that Israel had the ability to strike inside the country.

(26,318 posts)Why? Because I do not think the ones in charge there really want a full scale war but because they have to save face as well keep their population from thinking their weak they have to do something.
Then they can say "See, we are strong and can strike at Israel any time we want."
Meanwhile the ones in charge in Israel can tell their people "See we are strong and can protect you!!"
In other words its the same shit as decades ago.
