President Biden chastised what he called an extreme Florida Supreme Court ruling upholding the states 15-week abortion ban and triggering an even more restrictive policy. Yesterdays extreme decision puts desperately needed medical care even further out of reach for millions of women in Florida and across the South, Biden said Tuesday in a statement.
The Court not only upheld Floridas current ban on women being able to make their own reproductive choices, it will likely trigger Governor DeSantis even more extreme law that would prevent women from accessing care before many even know they are pregnant, he continued. It is outrageous.
Biden warned Floridas restrictions on abortion access, like those passed in other states, take away womens freedom to make their own health care decisions and threaten physicians with jail time simply for providing the medical care that they were trained to provide.
The president noted the court ruling approved a ballot measure that will protect abortion access if voters pass it in November, giving Floridians a chance to make their voices heard on the issue. We remain steadfast in our commitment to protecting reproductive freedom in Florida and across the nation and will continue to call on Congress to pass a law restoring the protections of Roe v. Wade in every state, Biden said.

(17,035 posts)Less than 15% of Americans are anti-choice. And how many of them vote? Between turning off voters with their unpopular fiats, and killing off them off with Covid, rwnj are unilaterally destroying their own party. Good. Damn good.

(7,147 posts)Like the Reagan-loving, church-going Silent Gen (born late 20s to 1945). They are not much of a voting bloc anymore. Meanwhile,16 million Gen Zers have turned 18 since 2020.
(Disclaimer: I know not all Silents are right wing and not all Gen Zers are progressive or will vote, etc.).

(222 posts)"Anti-choice" doesn't really quite do it justice.
Basically anti women's rights.

(7,819 posts)a woman, waiting to be born. The humunculus idea, including that sperm contains a little person, predates the renaissance and somehow survives in Florida.
The mocking quality and quantity against states and people that believe this has to go way up.
