Congressman Eric Swalwell (D-Calif.) went after former President Trumps rhetoric, saying he is glorifying violence as the California Democrat expressed concerns for the safety of election workers ahead of November. Swalwell, a long-time Trump critic in the House, blasted Trumps rhetoric on the social media platform Truth Social and his constant attacks aimed towards judges and those involved in his civil and criminal cases.
Were still a country thats armed to the teeth, right? I know the most dangerous people have access to the most dangerous weapons in this country, the California Democrat said during his Saturday appearance on MSNBC The Weekend.
Swalwell, who served as the House manager in Trumps second impeachment trial, criticized the former president for sharing a video that contained the photo of President Biden being tied in the back of a truck.
The violent rhetoric, is we saw, you know, just yesterday from the former presidents, you know, Truth account, where hes glorifying violence continues to go up.

(47,555 posts)I think it goes way beyond Trump. There are a lot of well armed people out there just looking for an excuse to be violent and Trump is giving it to them.
If you've ever witnessed a barroom brawl, you know that they often started over nothing except someone looking for an excuse to fight.

(47,555 posts)to this moment for quite a long time. You could even go back to the Clinton years. There was a lot of anti federal government sentiment then. Ruby Ridge, Waco Texas, and the bombing of the Alfred P. Murrah building in Oklahoma.
Whenever there was a Democrat in the White House, the extremists stocked up on more guns. They really expect that one day there will be a showdown between them and the government.

(47,555 posts)They pay a lot of lip service to "freedom" and "liberty", but I think most of them want to fight. Can't have all those military weapons collecting dust.

(47,555 posts)They think they're in an action movie, but no one bothered to provide a script or a plan. "Don't need no stinkin' plan, we've got guns!"

(504 posts)We need some new laws in the books for this. It seems there are no consequences for political threats and there should be. Elections are the foundation our democracy. Interfering or threatening at any level should have real consequences.

(22,154 posts)hurts some of his followers, him even? He'll run away w/ his tail between his butt to the nearest Secret Service agents and demand that they shoot and kill the instigators. Some nut will do this probably some day, trying to make a name for themselves.
