Boebert slams Buck's decision as 'weak sauce,' says she won't run in special election

Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-Colo.) called Rep. Ken Bucks (R-Colo.) decision to resign early weak sauce but said she would not be resigning to run in the special election to fill his seat. Boebert represents the states 3rd Congressional District, which includes the Western Slope and much of southern Colorado. She announced late last year, however, that she would run for Bucks seat, which is the 4th District in eastern Colorado, after Buck announced he would not seek reelection.
But Buck moved up his retirement, saying Tuesday he plans to leave Congress at the end of next week. The decision triggers a special election this summer to fill out the remainder of his term and threatens Boeberts chances of being elected to his seat. The development raised questions about whether Boebert would try to fill Bucks seat for the remainder of his term.
However, Boebert told The Hill: Im not leaving my constituents in the 3rd district. Boebert said shes still planning to run in the GOP primary in June to serve the full two-year term in the 4th District and criticized Bucks decision to leave his House seat early in a statement issued through her campaign.
Ken Bucks announcement yesterday was a gift to the Uniparty. The establishment concocted a swampy backroom deal to try to rig an election Im winning by 25 points, she said. Forcing an unnecessary Special Election on the same day as the Primary Election will confuse voters, result in a lame duck Congressman on day one, and leave the 4th District with no representation for more than three months. The 4th District deserves better. Boebert also touted that she was the only Trump-endorsed, America First candidate in this race.

(111,277 posts)since she'd be running in a different district. Also, I doubt she's got the cash on hand to run.
I don't think she's got a prayer, she lost when that video from her theater performance was posted.
Should have hung onto the bad husband and shitty diner, Lauren. Politics is a tough game and you've made too many blunders.

(51,611 posts)will be coming back I suppose. What else can she do except for running a misogynistic, gun loving, pseudo restaurant? She couldn't even do that well. LOSER Howler Monkey is her true title.

(6,299 posts)She can't be a Rep in both at the same time? Seems like the next step is senate? This is all strange.

(129,118 posts)And after her Beetlejuice fiasco, she would be a surefire loser this go-around since her district was swing. So what happened was that although she is still the Rep. for her district she decided that she would run for election in Buck's district INSTEAD (and not her current one), since he wasn't going to run for re-election.... His district is much redder.
HOWEVER he suddenly announced that he was resigning next week and that means that there would be a special election for his seat before the election for the regular term, and if Boebert wanted to run in the special election FIRST to finish out the couple months until January, then she would have to resign her current seat NOW.
She opted not to do that so someone else will be elected to fill out the term for Buck's seat after that special election and although she is running for the full term for that district, that special election winner would probably have a good chance (as an "incumbent" ) of beating her.
