Lisa Murkowski Endorses Nikki Haley In 2024 GOP Presidential Race
"America needs someone with the right values, vigor, and judgment to serve as our next President," the Alaska Republican senator said Friday.

Murkowski voted to convict Trump in his Jan. 6 impeachment trial and has been sharply critical of his tone and conduct, saying recently that his rhetoric is poisoning our country. She is only Haleys second congressional endorsement so far. Rep. Ralph Norman (R-S.C.) is the lone House member backing her 2024 campaign.
Republicans like Murkowski and Haley are on an island in their party right now. Trump swept all four early GOP presidential nominating states and he has the backing of more than 130 Republicans in the House and over 30 Republicans in the Senate, despite facing 91 criminal charges across several jurisdictions.
Haley acknowledged earlier this week its very possible the GOP has fully become the party of Trump.
What were doing is if 70% of Americans say they dont want Donald Trump or Joe Biden, we are giving them an option, the former U.S. ambassador to the United Nations said on CNN.................

(28,877 posts)That anti-Trump bridge acqaintance likes Haley and
thinks she's a kind person. Ugghhh
Her bridge partner and I tried to explain to her that
Haley is anti-abortion and is way wrong on the slavery
issue.
So, even the anti-Trump Republicans are still on the
wrong side of life and just looking at an excuse to stay
there.

(11,371 posts)that even a moderately competent (and slightly less insane) Trump - or Trump wannabe (DeSantis?) - would in fact be far more dangerous, both to the country, and as an adversary.
So, in that context - yes, Haley (Cruz, Johnson, Hawley, DeSantis) - all actually keep me up at night. And, in many respects, more so than the man that has spittle drooling from his lip virtually every time he opens his mouth.

(36,354 posts)I imagine that if one polled the leaders of our allied nation as to who they would prefer to deal with, they would all pick Haley.

(11,371 posts)But I think the difference between them is largely a matter of nuance and style (and probably about 20-30 points of IQ) - which is precisely why a (mistaken) 'comfort level' with with Haley (or Johnson?) - even while their core beliefs continue to be anathema - is exactly why they are the more dangerous adversary.
Do I need to point out (for the umpteenth time) how many Republicans continue to deny a legitimate 2020 election? And continue to reject characterizing what followed as 'insurrection'? Does that paint a picture of a party, or potential WH occupant, that would shy away from a trashing another? Are you putting it past a Haley or a DeSantis?
The orange Mussolini at least has the benefit of revealing himself for precisely what he is. And (despite the cult) that's a package that a lot of people just can't swallow.

(8,072 posts)Well, they both worry me but I know what you mean about Haley.
I've told people that she's a wolf in sheep's clothing. Her policies are horrible (as those of us on DU know).
