(538 posts)I hate to say it, but Navalny should never have gone back to Russia after they poisoned him. He should have remained in the West. He could have been a protestor for democracy while living safely in Europe and maybe even in America. He basically could have been the leader of a Russian Democracy in exile. If Putin ever fell or even died, Navalny could have then returned to Russia and ran for President and insured that the Russian people could have freedom and democracy. It is such a great loss.

LONDON (Reuters) - Former Russian double agent Sergei Skripal and his daughter Yulia remain critically ill in hospital after being poisoned with a nerve agent in the southern English city of Salisbury.
This is what we know so far:
WHAT HAPPENED?
At 4:15 p.m. (1615 GMT) on March 4, Wiltshire police got a call from a member of the public about two people who were acting strangely.
Police found Skripal, 66, and Yulia, 33, unconscious on a bench outside The Maltings shopping center in Salisbury.
The pair had no visible injuries and were taken to Salisbury District Hospital, where they are in critical condition. Counter-terrorism police took control of the investigation on March 6. On Monday, Prime Minister Theresa May said the couple had been poisoned with a military-grade nerve agent and it was "highly likely" that Russia was responsible.

(538 posts)Clearly, Putin would have tried to kill Navalny if he had remained in the West, but Navalny would have been much safer out of Russia rather than within it. He could have had more personal security and basically operated as a Russian government in exile.

(129,304 posts)because I expect he may have felt remaining here "in exile" would have put his family in direct danger as well. By isolating there, he could force them to watch him there and leave his wife and daughter out of it.

(538 posts)I just wish that Navalny's fate were different. i wish that he could have lived in peace with his wife and daughter in the West. I wish that he was not a martyr of democracy.
