Authorities are investigating a shooting with “multiple victims” at New Hampshire Hospital, a psychiatric facility in Concord, state police said Friday afternoon. The shooter is dead, according to the New Hampshire Homeland Security and Emergency Management Division, though its post on social media did not specify how that person had died. It was unclear how many people had been killed or injured. State police and emergency management investigators were at the scene shortly after 4 p.m., according to posts on their respective X accounts.

A suspect in the shooting at New Hampshire Hospital is deceased, the state’s Homeland Security and Emergency Management office said on social media.
“The situation at New Hampshire Hospital has been contained,” the office said, adding that the “scene remains active.”

1. I know about that place, buildings are heavily locked down at all times

it's a very secure facility.

What I've been able to glean from what little info is at other sites is that this happened outside, probably at shift change. It's about the only time there would have been enough people to slaughter to justify the purchase of the gun.

I just wish these assholes would figure out how to do suicide by cop without hurting other people.

2. Situation under control

Sadly, the victim has died. Shooter was shot and killed by state trooper in the hospital lobby. No other victims have been reported in latest update from NH State Police.

This is the campus where I work and have been in that lobby many times. I was off today, so I missed the horror that must have ensued at 3:30 PM just as people were heading home. Trying to check in with co-workers to see if they were affected, but I want to give them time to check in with their families.

Press conference this morning. Police announce that the shooter, described as a transient, entered the hospital lobby and shot and killed the security guard with a 9mm pistol. A NH state trooper assigned to the hospital, immediately returned fire and killed the shooter. The security guard was a retired police chief from nearby Franklin and much respected in the community. Earlier reports of 'multiple victims' were probably alarmist. Police have released the name of the shooter, but I won't mention it here.

This is scary. I work on this campus in one of the many state office buildings. I have been to the hospital many times until they closed the cafeteria during the pandemic. It's beautiful walking around the grounds on a nice day, but now it will never feel the same.

Yes, a cruel event like that will forever taint a place. At the rate gun violence is escalating in this country, it won't be long before every individual will be somehow directly affected by a mass shooting. This is absolute madness.
