Source: CBS News

Five people are dead and six more are in the hospital after a retired law enforcement officer opened fire at a historic biker bar in Trabuco Canyon, according to sources.

Orange County deputies said the shooting started at Cook's Corner in the 19000 block of Santiago Canyon Road.

What is wrong with the Supreme Court that no limit can be imposed on gun ownership?

by arming everyone. The murders like this won't stand in the way of the rw wing having armed people willing to mass at their command, unpaid, untrained, with no government funding to feed, house or care for them.

I can't think of any other reason why this insanity is underwritten by people who should know better.

the cops in Kenosha that wrestled the wrong man to the ground while he was holding his baby and then punched the hell out of him are still claiming they don't think they did anything wrong. Basically the police argument is that they were looking for a black man who had been in a hit and run. They went into the Applebees and somebody pointed to a black man and so that was good enough for them. Crime solved in their book. The actual black man they were looking for was hiding in the bathroom. But they didn't bother to ask the man with the baby any questions before attacking him such as "How long have you been here?", "Did you drive here?", "Can you describe your vehicle for us?", "Where is your vehicle now?", "Were you in an accident a few minutes ago?" etc. That last question would have been a mind-blower for the cops since the guy had been there for some time and already had his food and was eating. But they just came up on him and within seconds they were throwing him down and wailing on him.

That's how it is in Kenosha. Thankfully the baby is reported as uninjured. But probably the cops will claim they were scared for their lives because the baby didn't comply right away when they screamed to get down and although the baby only had hold of a piece of bread the cops thought it was a gun.

Yes is it any wonder the GQP are holding their debate and convention just a few miles away this year? They like what they see.

food since it doesn't seem like it is actually prepared there and fresh but rather more or less "heated and assembled" at the local place. I try to go to places where freshly prepared food and I don't mind the wait because I know what I'm asking for and I pay the price in money and time. I don't go to the chains unless I'm just grabbing at the drive thru. I seek out the little places and try to keep them hanging on. I've got some nice small diners, small Italian/Sicilian and small Mexican places. We used to have Polish places but they went with the years.

I think that is why some of the chains have had bad outbreaks of foodborne illness. The food is prepared elsewhere and shipped. The more the food is handled, the more chance there is for germs to get in.

We seldom eat at chain restaurants.

was at a poultry processing facility in Arkansas. I had no idea about the scale of processed food for these chains until then. I saw all of these trucks unloading white plastic 5 gallon or so size pails. I asked one of the plant people what the buckets were for and they said one of the things they did at the plant was throw chicken parts, breasts etc., into a big vat of spices and liquid and then shut the lid while the parts were tumbled in the mixture and pressure was applied to the tank. Then after a few minutes the "marinated" pieces would be sucked out of the tank and into the buckets as they came by on the conveyor line. The pails had a plastic liner in them and the lids would be put on by machine and seal the bucket, plastic liner and the pail. Then labeled as to the marinade and for which chain restaurant and stacked on pallets and off to the cold storage until they would be loaded on trucks. I was nearly sick to my stomach at the thought so I didn't ask if they were freezing the pails or just making them super cold. The refrigerated trailers were waiting to be loaded.

I would imagine it's that way with a lot of that stuff. Even for salads I can remember restaurants getting in cases of lettuce by the head and then having the kitchen tear up the lettuce sort of as they needed it. But most of the chains now get their lettuce all pre-chopped in big plastic bags and the lettuce may have been cut several days before from far away. They just open the bag and grab a handful or two and plunk it in the bowl with some other pre-chopped things and there's your salad. Close up the bag and throw it back into the cooler. Maybe a dozen people with their hands in and out of that bag. Of course they are supposed to put on plastic gloves but we know that doesn't always happen in a busy kitchen. Likewise the bag doesn't always make it back to the cooler. Tasty.

I'm actually surprised on the one hand that it's still there. But on the other hand, it makes perfect sense because it was rather a unique roadside corner bar.

It was definitely a biker bar then for sure.
