FORT MYERS, Fla. Florida sheriffs who had attended a conference this week with a COVID-19-infected colleague met Friday afternoon with President Donald Trump.
Volusia County Sheriff Mike Chitwood reported his positive test just hours before more than a dozen other sheriffs stood with Trump on the Tampa International Airport tarmac.
Chitwood had attended the Florida Sheriff's Association conference earlier this week in Bonita Springs. Gov. Ron DeSantis, Sen. Rick Scott, R-Fla., Florida Attorney General Ashley Moody and law enforcement officers from around the state were also at the conference.

Rapid testing was done (for some) at this #trumprally, --a political event, which was what it was (meaning tax dollars spent) .
Yet, regular folks wait days for their results. Unfair hardly cuts it.

(30,804 posts)I don't think this one will do it. The closer indoor contacts in the White House are a lot more risky.

(7,521 posts)The riskier situation is an enclosed indoor space with less circulation where someone carrying virus is inside for a period of time exhaling without a mask. Wearing a mask indoors keeps asymptomatic carriers from releasing as much virus into the air that will remain airborne and be potentially inhaled by someone else. Your mask may protect from stray virus but not as well as it will keep that of an unwittingly-infected person's viral load from escaping into the air.

(63,172 posts)I was hoping for something spectacular, like having Trump taken out by a meteor strike, or by falling into a volcano, or by getting eaten by an escaped genetically engineered super-reptile, but nice fatal dose of southern-fried COVID would do very nicely.

It would also be good to see him crushed by a huge block of frozen piss falling from a jet passing far overhead.

(2,336 posts)Wouldn't that just make sense? Even if the president himself refuses to wear a mask, I'd still think anyone near him in any setting should be required to wear a mask to protect the president. Why is this not a thing?

(1,979 posts)We have an urgent care right down the street that is offering the 10 minute test. I had to pay the $30.00 copay, but it was a quick blood test (same as taking a blood sugar test) and I had my answer in 15 minutes. It is available, you just have to find out where and be willing to pay for it.
