PHOENIX — Phoenix police say they arrested a man in connection to the fire at the Arizona Democratic Party headquarters in Phoenix last Friday. 29-year-old Matthew Egler was arrested on Wednesday morning for arson. Police say Egler was a volunteer who was banned from the party offices.

The Phoenix Fire Department said firefighters were dispatched to the building near Central Avenue and Thomas Road around 1 a.m. on July 24 for reports of smoke coming from the building.

There were no injuries and no one was inside the building at the time of the fire. However, there was significant damage caused by the fire.

Phoenix Fire Investigation Task Force (which includes Phoenix Fire and Phoenix Police personnel), along with assistance from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, were involved in processing the scene.

That article goes on to say Elger was upset he was denied the chance to volunteer in his district after he was banned and it implies the Party will need to move to new headquarters.

Not good optics for Arizona Democrats. We hope they find a new home soon........

of more than just vandalism, including enough to pressure him to get information about co-conspirators and others in the organization. Under the law, a suspect can't be held for more than 36 hours without being brought before a judge and formally charged.

Snip....
The Star Tribune could not independently verify the police account, which has so far only surfaced in the search warrant, and isn't naming the man because so far he has not been charged with a crime. The man, who has a criminal history that includes convictions of domestic violence and assault, did not respond to messages seeking comment. Spokespersons for the Minneapolis Police Department and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, which is also involved in the investigation, declined to comment.
