New York police confirm arrest of protester in unmarked van

Source: The Hill

The New York Police Department (NYPD) confirmed late Tuesday that officers arrested a protester and placed her in an unmarked van after videos of the episode quickly spread across social media.

Footage showed a group of plainclothes officers wrestling a protester to the pavement during a demonstration in Manhattan and shoving her into an unmarked van. As the protester was detained, several officers, some of whom arrived on bicycles, pushed a crowd of people away from the vehicle.

Video showed tensions rising between officers and people in the streets as the arrest transpired.

In a series of tweets, the NYPD confirmed that its officers conducted the arrest. The department said that the individual taken into custody was wanted for allegedly damaging police cameras during five separate incidents around City Hall Park.

They could have walked in there with a couple uniformed officers and calmly taker them into custody.
They endangered themselves and the public with their Rambo antics.
It’s bullshit.
And the pointing gun.
That fool should be fired along with whoever thought that was a good way to handle it.

That is a far less intimidating tactic which does not help to throw gasoline on an already blazing situation.

of this questionable puzzle. They took this woman off the street so they KNEW who she was and WHERE she was at the time they arrested her. They have established charges against her. Were they keeping her under surveillance? It is hard to believe the police just accidently stumbled across finding this woman. SO.....why didn't uniformed officers go to her residence and simply arrest her there instead of creating this BULLSHIT DRAMA straight out of some TV show. Piss poor tactical MANURE!

they have been doing it for decades, as do most large cities. Most efficient way when you have hundreds of people with warrants that need to be tracked down and arrested.

Not everyone wants to be found. Certainly with violent criminals you can see the need for a squad like this?

that a normal police stop would be unable to in this same instance

Support your assertion beyond mere speculation... else it's both empty and falls flat.

But still, don't do the crime if you can't do the time. And if you are going to do the crime, try not to put your face directly in the cameras line of sight.

There were better ways to arrest her tho.
