Ruth Bader Ginsburg announces cancer recurrence, will remain on the Supreme Court

Source: NBC News and CNN

Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg said Friday she is undergoing chemotherapy to treat a recurrence of cancer. The treatment is yielding "positive results." The liberal justice, 87, said she remains "fully able" to continue in her post.

Owing to her age and long medical history, Ginsburg's health is the subject of widespread interest given her status as a liberal icon. The prospect that President Donald Trump could name a third justice to the Supreme Court would also be a major election issue.
Earlier this week, Ginsburg was treated at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore after having a fever and chills, and undergoing an "endoscopic procedure to clean out a bile duct stent that was placed last August," the court said at the time.

Ginsburg said her cancer treatment is unrelated to this week's incident.

The court ended its term last week with a ruling upholding the ability of Congress and a New York prosecutor to attempt to obtain Trump's financial records. But the court this week has also ruled on two death penalty appeals and a Florida voting access case.
Ginsburg was also in the hospital in early May. At that time, she participated in oral arguments from her hospital bed, asking questions in a case concerning Obamacare's so-called contraceptive mandate.

Friday's statement indicates that the pancreatic cancer Ginsburg was treated for in 2009 has returned again, this time in her liver, and that she tried one of the new immunotherapies for cancer, but it failed to shrink the tumors. It is not liver cancer.
Gemcitabine is a standard chemotherapy treatment that is a mainstay for pancreatic cancer that has spread.

David Sirota, Briahna Joy Gray, Cornel West, Jill Stein, and all the other so-called "progressives", who not only refused to vote for Hillary in the 2016 general election, but also encouraged others to do likewise

From my perspective they have blood on their hands

I believe the SC starts in October, and there is no doubt that they will do anything to try and get another SC appointment in before the election

I completely agree! I'll bet you've pissed-off a lot of Stein voters who lurk in the shadows... and who hope you'll forget... and who don't like to be called out. The Stein-voters (or those who chose to write-in names that have zero chance of winning) are beneath contempt.

All the blood of Covid 19 deaths plus the guilt and shame of children in cages, putting DACA kids in a limbo, the Charlottesville fiasco, the uptick in racism, the crashing economy and more.

Fuck Jill Stein and Susan Sarandon and anyone who was disgruntled enough that their messiah didn't win and voted third party or didn't vote for HRC.

Own it if you have any integrity whatsoever. Don't hide behind a false "I voted for Hillary" cloak which many people see is not veracious.

RBG needs rest and relief From the hell this country is going through. She fought for us her whole life, we did not have time to go vote to help her. We deserve where we are and should not let saving this country rest solely on her shoulders. She has been a warrior, now it is our time to get off our asses in her honor and take it to the battlefield. Do not let her lifelong battle be wasted. Draw from her fierce courage and honor, or end under criminal soulless greed of GOP and conservatism.
This Veteran stands to honor her, her bravery, and salute the fight she has made for what we all fight for in uniform. Wish her love, peace and health.

Stage 4 pancreatic cancer means the cancer has spread to other organs, typically the liver or the lungs. Cancer can’t be cured at this point, but there are still treatment options.

Treatment during this stage is focused on extending life and improving the quality of life.

I don't blame her one bit!
Who do I blame?
We -the Democratic party and so called Democrats! Cue Will rogers quote!
IF we would have seen the obvious that a madman was about to become President who really showed his idiocy for about two years in 2015-16 and
IF we would have all came together to go against this madman instead of being
1. principled Jill Stein progressive wannabes
2. Bernie or Busters!
3. Couldn't support Hillary and Clinton corruption or at least what Republicans convinced Dems of
and IF
us DUMBocrats would have understood that elections have consequences and Trump maybe able to appoint extremely conservative Supreme, district, and circuit court judges
THEN
a democratic Hillary would have kept one of the few progressive far left voices on the Supreme Court until she felt she could not AND
THEN
"corrupt" "moderate" "non-progressive" Hillary could had nominated a moderate to left Judge that would protect voting rights, abortion, rights, the environment etc etc etc.
I PRAY FOR YOU RBG AND THANKS SO MUCH FOR BEING THE BRAVE, COURAGEOUS WARRIOR YOU TRULY ARE FOR JUSTICE AND HUMAN RIGHTS WHO UNDERSTANDS ELECTIONS HAVE CONSEQUENCES!!!
