Health official: Trump rally 'likely' source of virus surge
Source: AP
President Donald Trumps campaign rally in Tulsa that drew thousands of people in late June, along with large protests that accompanied it, likely contributed to a dramatic surge in new coronavirus cases, Tulsa City-County Health Department Director Dr. Bruce Dart said Wednesday.
Tulsa County reported 261 confirmed new cases on Monday, a one-day record high, and another 206 cases on Tuesday.
Although the health departments policy is to not publicly identify individual settings where people may have contracted the virus, Dart said those large gatherings more than likely contributed to the spike.
In the past few days, weve seen almost 500 new cases, and we had several large events just over two weeks ago, so I guess we just connect the dots, Dart said.
A spokesman for the Trump campaign didnt immediately respond to a request for comment.

(64,852 posts)They just didn't care.
Got to have that photo op, although it turned out to be a humiliation.
The figured it would happen, especially as they removed the "Do not sit here" stickers.
But, worrying about people contracting a possibly lethal disease is for suckers.

(5,810 posts)Try to figure out where they picked up the virus and look for others who might also have picked it up. Looks to me like that would help identify who potentially got exposed at the rally.

(4,950 posts)protests in Tulsa. I know most were outside etc. but unless they specifically say that the contact tracing proved it out, it is hard to persuade people who are skeptical about the numbers after the nationwide highly attended protests that occurred.

(778 posts)The BLM rallies will spread the disease and they could shut them down. Most of the people I have seen at them have worn masks and besides, they are generally Outdoors.
A couple weeks before the event they were already getting set up for a surge by saying that Oklahoma was starting to have a problem and in reality, increase wasn't that great at the time. Herman Cain has it and he attended the rally and so has one of the reporters who attended the rally. But the cover-up is that they were also other places. They will try to lie their way out of this. It's no different then the politicians who are claiming his riots are controlled environments so they are perfectly safe.
As for the event at Mount Rushmore, someone told us last night that they were all tested and not a single one had it. I think they were confusing the temperature check with an actual covid-19 check. At least the Trump supporters keep things interesting. I like the Theory from one of the posters who said to cross-check voter records.

I am convinced that trump is enjoying his apparent power to cause people to die.
