US records more than 60,000 coronavirus cases to set new single-day record

Source: The Hill

The U.S. set a somber single-day record for coronavirus cases on Tuesday, with 60,000 new cases reported, according to Johns Hopkins University statistics. The number breaks the nation's previous single-day record of more than 54,000 new cases reported on Thursday.

Throughout all 50 states as well as Washington, D.C., and other territories, the U.S. currently has 2.9 million diagnosed cases of the virus as well as at least 131,480 related deaths.

Although cases are on the rise in most states, the increase has been largely driven by several states in the Southern and Western U.S. that have seen drastic spikes in recent weeks, including Florida, Oklahoma, Arizona, Texas and California.

In Florida alone, 43 intensive care units across 21 counties were reported to be at capacity as of Tuesday. The state also set a new record for the percentage of tests coming back positive, at 16.3 percent, on Monday, and broke its own single-day record with 11,458 new cases of the virus Saturday.

Hearing reports that people are waiting 6-8 hours in their call...feeling sick just waiting in line to get tested....How many out there can't tolerate the line/wait and thus are not getting tested? That said...these folks who need tested are ultimately exposing others to the virus....

Testing result return timing...that can take 6-8 days!

We are failing to contain/mitigate this virus on every level of known, basic epidemiologic level...

Not enough testing, facilities too overwhelmed to take patients,
and a lot of deaths being reported as pneumonia or other causes.

Waiting in lines, people don't like that, and then having to wait for results a week or longer means people continuing to fuck up.

I was tested in May on a Sunday, had results the next morning.

My wife was tested last Friday and has to wait a week minimum. Her hairdresser, who she spend a few hours with en-mask in their home, has tested positive and now everyone is on quarantine while we wait.

This is getting worse.

The only bright side is that Trump will go down in flames.

I was off by only 3 days

Anyone wanna place bets on Fauci's 100K prediction? I'm going in on July 20, but I'm praying some of the fear this surge is generating will keep us below it.
