Trump calls Black Lives Matter a 'symbol of hate' as he digs in on race

(CNN)On Monday, President Donald Trump went after attempts to strip the names of racists from buildings.

On Tuesday, it was a federal housing rule meant to combat racial segregation.

By Wednesday, Trump was calling the words "black lives matter" a "symbol of hate" -- a description he's refused to use for Confederate emblems -- that would spoil the "luxury avenue" he once called home.

Navigating a precarious political moment, Trump continues seizing upon widening cultural divisions in a way he believes will appeal to voters concerned about safety and order -- despite polls showing wide disapproval of how he's handling race relations.

What I have heard are chants about the issues: "Defund the police," "I can't breathe," "Black Lives Matter!"

The only other chant I can imagine is, "Where's a f*cking toilet?"

BTW, this is rich coming from a man who built his campaign on the words, "Lock her up!"

16. It happened once, 5 years ago, and was said to be banter with the escorting police

who joked back.

The "pigs" chant cited by Trump likely comes from a 2015 incident when some Black Lives Matter protesters yelled it at the Minnesota State Fair.

Trahern Crews, an organizer of that event, has said the incident was taken out of context. He claims the chant was a joke, sparked by a police officer who was escorting marchers.

Lives Matter-St. Paul, a Green Party candidate for the St. Paul City
council ward 1.

Mr. Crews, I want you to respond first to that chant that was captured
on tape there. What is your reaction? There are people who see that and
say it`s incitement, it`s a call to violence, it`s dehumanizing at the very
least. Do those activists, do you, do Black Lives Matter activists hate
police officers?

TRAHERN CREWS, BLACK LIVES MATTER, ST. PAUL ORGANIZER: No, not at
all. And I want to put that chant in context. We had a great
demonstration that day. It was very exciting. It was so exciting that I
think the police who were along escorting the marchers wanted to be a part
of the march or a part of the demonstration.

So on the way back, the officer leading the parade kept talking into
his microphone and saying things to the crowd, like, stay off the medium,
do that, he was laughing and joking with the marchers, so then the marchers
kind of started chanting that towards him. It was more playful than
anything. So –

HAYES: So that was – you`re saying, that was in a playful context,
that chant?

CREWS: At that particular demonstration, yes. That was. Because –
and the officer was laughing and joking along with the protesters.

HAYES: People –

CREWS: And he – the officer also said, when they started chanting,
he said back into the microphone, everybody loves bacon.

What the mood really was, I don't know. But the right have latched onto it as an excuse to hate Black Lives Matter ever since.

There's nothing but hate in his empty head and installing that anger in others to do his evil criminal bidding so he can pretend his innocence in wanting to actually perform the violence of his imaginings - some we've come to know as Police; some as criminal thugs; some, unfortunately, venting the despair of the trans-generational trauma of injustice, and turning to the availability of potent street drugs, weapons, and social abuse. I like law and order; I like the peace and contentment of a calm, healthy, vibrant community of humans filled with diverse options to live in that nation/state/city/community freely without violence and with options, opportunities, and challenges that don't die in the night of hunger, lack of purposeful work, lack of access and/or cost to health care by doctors, hospitals, and pharmacists. It's sad that there are entities that make their wealth by "churn." Except for the paid jobs it might provide, Gov Cuomo need not even spend a dime on that project - there'd be plenty of volunteers to donate the paint and labor to "spell it out" on that avenue! F-Trump!
