Live updates: Arizona, Florida, Texas are latest coronavirus epicenters

Confirmed coronavirus cases in the United States surpassed 2.5 million on Sunday as a crushing new wave of infections continued to bear down throughout the country’s South and West. Across the nation, more than 38,000 new daily cases were reported by 5:15 p.m. on Sunday.

Florida, Texas and Arizona are fast emerging as the country’s latest epicenters after reporting record numbers of new infections for weeks in a row. Positivity rates and hospitalizations have also spiked. On Sunday, Arizona (3,857) and Georgia (2,225) hit new one-day case highs.

Global cases of covid-19 exceeded 10 million, according to a count maintained by Johns Hopkins University, a measure of the power and spread of a pandemic that has caused vast human suffering, devastated the world’s economy and still threatens vulnerable populations in rich and poor nations alike.

extremely cautious if we venture outside our homes. Though those seniors who are in the Trump cult may be less vigilant.

Most of the maskholes are guys in their 20s to 40s.

And while I've certainly never polled any, most of them definitely look like Chumpkins (from their demeanor, you know?).

Stay safe, and enjoy your evening.

3. So the convention center in Jacksonville holds 15,000

I’d love to see 15,000 rethugs all packed in together in the midst of a pandemic but they’ll no doubt be getting a lot of innocent people sick. Why do they even need to do it, it’s just a formality to coronate their king. I see a lot of the official business whatever that is, will stay in NC. The residents of Jacksonville by a large majority don’t want it.

They will be ordered to fill empty seats in civilian clothes and to hold signs.

I have zero doubt.

12. Texas Republicans are moving ahead with full blown convention in Houston

Texas will be sending infected delegates to the business stuff in NC and the big coronation in FL

ALmost a perfect storm.

When I read that the TX Rep Conv was going full speed ahead with business as usual, I must admit wondering how many of them will still be around to vote in Nov?

he fainted on stage. He was capable of spreading Covid-19 starting 2 days after infection if he wasn't wearing a mask. So testing only helps to tell if you have the disease or had the disease, depends on the test.

Wear the flippin' mask when out with others. Simple and easy and drops the infection rate by at least 95%.

protect ourselves. We might not be able protect ourselves completely. There are cases where even people who sheltered at home caught the virus somehow. But we can give ourselves a much better chance if we follow certain guidelines. We have all heard it a thousand times already. Wear a mask. Wash your hands. Do not touch your face. Avoid large crowds of people. Disinfect frequently touched surfaces. Stay home as much as possible. If we do these things we are less likely to get it.

8. Daily new U.S. cases, 7 day moving average: +77% in last 2 1/2 weeks
Sun Jun 28, 2020, 07:56 PM
Jun 2020

Looks like June 9-11 was the recent bottom of daily new cases, 21,300;

June 27: 37,600

+77%, (7 day moving averages).

https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/country/us/

(in case anyone is still in denial)

Deaths continue to decline. (New cases are more and more skewing younger people so death rate is going down. And lag the increase in cases by more than 2 weeks -- 2 weeks ago was around the bottom of new cases).
