Colin Kalmbacher Jun 27th, 2020, 5:26 pm

St. Louis Mayor Lyda Krewson is facing massive backlash–including a rising chorus of calls for her resignation–after she read aloud the names and addresses of citizens who had advocated for defunding the city’s police department.

The names and addresses were read during a Facebook Live briefing held by the Democratic Party mayor on Friday evening. Black Lives Matter protesters previously submitted their suggestions for potential city budgets with various social services bolstered by decreased police department spending.

Noted St. Louis civil rights activist Ohun Ashe brought attention to the incident via Twitter.

“St. Louis mayor [Lyda Krewson] just went live telling the full names [and] addresses of people wanting to defund the police [and] where they want the money to go,” Ashe wrote. “Yall [sic] she just put a hit out on people. This is a sick and twisted abuse of power and political terrorism.” Police accountability group Cop Watch shared Ashe’s post.

A petition on Change.org calling for Krewson to resign quickly appeared in response to the doxxing scandal. As of this writing, the petition has amassed nearly 24,000 signatures–just shy of organizer Maxi Glamour‘s initial 25,000-signature goal..............................

They want 35k signatures and they'll probably have 28k by the time I hit the "post" button. I've never actually seen a Change petition gain sigs before my eyes like that!

He was forced into resignation for something much less than this. He didn't put any lives at risk. She needs to call it a career.

If you dont like it, then dont jump up and down with glee when someone does it that you DO like.
I have always thought that this shit is ridiculous & will lead to someone getting hurt. Whether i like the person getting "doxed" (HATE that term) or I cant stand them.

And what she did was wrong. Wrong and vile. Despicably wrong.

There's only one person I despise whose home address should be made public often and loudly and that's the morbidly obese denizen of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue in Washington, D.C.

Doxxing is wrong at all times, especially these days when so many dangerous people with guns and bombs want to solve the nations problems using second amendment instrumentalities. And this woman knew that when she did her doxxing.

pretend that what an individual does can and should be given the same precise weight of what a government does, allowing their bias to abjectly deny the relevant differences of form, obligation and degree.
