Floridas coronavirus problem just got a lot worse on Wednesday a new daily high mark of 5,511 cases with no signs of relief.
The Department of Health reported 109,014 people have tested positive since the pandemic began.
The statewide daily total easily broke the previous record high of 4,049, set just four days ago, continuing a month-long surge of COVID-19 infections.
Only New York State appears to have had more new cases than Florida in a single day 11,571 on April 14, records show. Other states have reported record highs this week: 5,489 cases in Texas on Tuesday, and 5,019 cases in California, also Tuesday.

DeSantis steadfastly maintains the increases in cases are due to more testing, spikes in agriculture communities, jails and long-term care facilities, not because the state decided to reopen portions of the economy in recent weeks.
How much worse will things have to get before this asshole Florida governor finally admits he was wrong to reopen the economy? How many Floridians' lives is his precious economy worth? I guess we'll find out.
