Dream City Church, the north Phoenix megachurch set to host a Donald Trump rally on June 23, claims it has solved the pandemic problem in its auditorium, making it safe for anyone who wants to attend.

In a video posted on Sunday, Senior Pastor Luke Barnett and Chief Operations Officer Brendon Zastrow announce happily that the church has installed a new air-purification system that kills 99.9 percent of the coronavirus. The technology, they say, was developed by members of the church.


Dream City Church reportedly has 3,000 seats, though it's unclear whether that many Trump supporters intend to attend tomorrow afternoon's rally; headlines from Trump's event in Tulsa, Oklahoma, on Saturday focused on the many rows of empty seats. But those who do wish to attend won't have to worry about that virus that's going around, Barnett and Zastrow say...............

Sounds to me like a huckster operation trying to get some $ by installing it in thw church abd working the goobers. I worked in radio once and learned why these hucksters love to sponsor right wing radio. It's because they know that theoir listeners are "pre-qualified" and will believe almost anything. It won't stop the spread of infection at the close contact level. When we speak or cough the droplets are not affected by the air handling system except it might cause more drift if the air is moving faster. My best guess is it would take at least four hours to to clean reduce air contamination in a building because no system made has perfectly distributed air flow. In short it is useless for this kind of event.

The air handler may scrub the virus, but the air is constantly being recharged by 3000 people in close proximity, breathing on each other. Even with masks being given out...we know the reality of it is that many, if not most, will either not wear them, or wear them improperly. It's a perfect venue for virus transmittal.

Add to that all the surfaces that are touched by all those people while entering, participating in the service, and leaving the church. You can sanitize before the service, but it won't stay that way. Again, a perfect venue for virus transmittal.
Lastly, there will be the handshakes, hugs, etc. that are going to happen both inside and outside the church.

It's simply impossible to protect a large group of people who come into close proximity for an extended period of time.
Especially when they believe God will protect them.
