Trump: Foreign countries will print 'millions of mail-in ballots' in 'scandal of our times!'
Source: The Hill
President Trump launched another attack on mail-in voting Monday morning, claiming that foreign nations would print millions of mail-in ballots.
RIGGED 2020 ELECTION: MILLIONS OF MAIL-IN BALLOTS WILL BE PRINTED BY FOREIGN COUNTRIES, AND OTHERS. IT WILL BE THE SCANDAL OF OUR TIMES! Trump tweeted without providing evidence
-snip-
In April, he claimed that you get thousands and thousands of people sitting in somebodys living room, signing ballots all over the place" when mail-in voting is allowed.
Asked by reporters for evidence, he responded, "I think there's a lot of evidence, but we'll provide you with some, okay?"

I'm waiting for him to tell evangelists there will be demonic mail-in ballots, and others that aliens will not only create mail-in ballots but they'll disguise themselves as Democrats to vote.
This morning's idiotic lie:

(70,508 posts)You have to be a REGISTERED VOTER.
The ballot has to come from the BOARD OF ELECTIONS.
They also do signature matching. His whole point is to establish 'doubt' he doesn't need proof he just needs enough people to believe his made up conspiracy theories to get in the way of national by mail voting. I would suspect part of the plan is that the states will need some financial help from the federal government to ramp up their existing absentee/vote by mail systems to handle the massive numbers. By spreading doubt it gives him an excuse to give any financial aid.

(7,220 posts)I live in Oregon and can attest to the fact that if the signature doesn't match, the registered voter gets a letter asking them to correct the signature or take other action.

It's a scare tactic. As long as he keeps them full of fear and doubt, they'll follow the wolf that claims to protect them.

(22,913 posts)Exactly the same ploy as his claim to have won the popular vote in 2016 were it not for massive illegal voting. Evidence, who needs evidence? He didn't have any then either.
Unlike some I don't think Trump would refuse to leave office based on an election fraud claim. He knows his standing in history will look far worse if he actually has to be carried out of the White House by Federal Marshals, or worse. He now knows that the military will be faithful to the Constitution, and not to him personally. No, it is all about his ego. Trump can't handle the humiliation of losing and of being rejected by the American people. It would not be enough to blame the pandemic or unfair media for his loss, he must reject actually losing itself.
And though I think it unlikely that he will try to hold onto the White House if Biden wins, Trump will still do major damage to our democracy by claiming the election was stolen from him, and by refusing to honor our long standing tradition of a gracious transfer of power. But Trump doesn't give a fuck, it is only about him

(1,665 posts)Since his projection is well known, we can assume hes been in talks with Russia, N Korea (known for their surprisingly robust counterfeiting operations), et. al. to put this plan in action for his campaign.
So we know what to look for.

(10,749 posts)Sure, it's horrifying. But it's just so damned old.
He's a fucking liar. No foreign power is going to print millions of ballots.
More important, like the millions of tickets given out for the Tulsa rally, the only ones that mattered were the ones who showed up.
IOW, no precinct, village, town, or city is going to count more than one ballot for each registered voter. No one person counts the votes.
It's a bipartisan process. However corrupt any one ballot counter might be, the second the vote count goes over the number of registered voters, everyone will know there's a problem. Mail-in ballots might very well slow down the vote counting process, but it far less subject to corruption than computerized systems that have been shown to fail to accurately record votes.
So, please, please, please, just STFU.
Lincoln Project? DNC? Biden campaign? Please knock this down right now.

(36,057 posts)we put security strips in each ballot.
If we can all have tax ID #'s, we can have ballot ID #'s, each with a security strip.
Keeping fake ballots out won't be hard with sorting machinery.
I don't pretend the first time will be easy or without some problems, but once states succeed with mail in balloting, they can toss their hackable voting machines onto a public bonfire and declare elections fair for the future.
As long as we sit around joking that he won't try this, we'll be caught flat footed when he does.

(22,801 posts)otherwise) are checked against a voter registration database? If there are two or more votes in the name of any voter in the database, do they think they will all be counted?
I've heard this bullshit "argument" several times: "What's to stop people from just printing 25 ballots and sending them in."
Jeez. The stupid. It burns! Do they really think that state elections boards just accept any printed ballot that shows up? Do they know that there are already protections built in? That a mail-in ballot has to be signed? That any one person can't just send in multiple ballots? That the ballots have to come from the Board of Elections? That the military has been voting by mail since the Civil War? That the last election fraud from absentee ballots was perpetrated by Republicans in North Carolina, and they got caught - by Republicans???

The report comes as election security experts remain on alert for efforts to manipulate the 2020 election from Russia and many other countries and nonstate actors.

On the internet, a letter from Sen. Ben Cardin, D-Md., dated July 13, 2019, looks legitimate. It has a U.S. Senate letterhead, Cardin's signature and even a small "Printed on Recycled Paper" at the bottom.
But it is fake. Cardin never sent the letter, which attempts to portray him as making an exaggerated case for Russian opposition candidate Alexei Navalny to Sen. Bob Menendez, D-N.J.
It's one of a handful of fake government documents that have circulated on the internet in recent months. One purports to be from a U.S. admiral, while another tries to float the idea that Secretary of State Mike Pompeo recognized the Armenian Genocide and blamed Turkey something Pompeo has been careful not to do.
The letters were released Wednesday by the cybersecurity firm Recorded Future, which analyzed the documents and found what its researchers say is an organized, targeted effort with connections to Russia aimed at influencing geopolitical discourse. It's the kind of operation that could be deployed for the 2020 election.
