Melania Trump marked Juneenth with a short film posted on social media, but the reception didnt go over as well as she probably hoped.
The first lady celebrated the anniversary of the end of slavery in the United States by reading from the childrens book, All Different Now, by author Angela Johnson and illustrator E.B. Lewis, which tells the story of the first Juneteenth.
However, her efforts werent widely appreciated.

Ok, birther. We believe your sincerity. We know you didn't really traffic in the racist birtherism conspiracy theories.

(45,442 posts)Birthers vehemently hate the 14th amendment, which was one of the reconstruction amendments passed after the confederate losers lost the civil war. This is why racists often are in open denial that nonwhites could possibly have been born in the USA or be US citizens. Birth certificates enrage certain people who desperately wish we had race-based citizenship. While Obama was facing birtherism, I was busy stealing jobs away from Americans. (I'm American)

(111,256 posts)especially when she's dealing with children online. Those narrowed eyes are an unmistakable signal for "oh shit, Mom's really angry" and every kid knows it.
I don't fault her accent, she came by that honestly. It's one reason she didn't want to be presidential arm candy, what is exotic on the cocktail circuit is awkward on the national stage, she had that much sense.
Once she's away from Big Dummy, she will likely change quite a bit, living with a malignant narcissist is walking on a knife edge, flattery and compliance are essential.

Still...a known birther should be the last one picked.
I think she entered into marriage with her eyes wide open. I don't feel any sympathy for her. I also think because they both viewed the marriage as a mutually beneficial arrangement they will remain together unless Trump becomes completely unhinged. Oh, he is already unhinged but it can, and probably will, get worse.

(111,256 posts)that marriage to a rich toad seemed like a gift from heaven. She produced a kid, who fortunately turned out to be male, so her ticket to a soft life is punched. No, there will not be a divorce, but there might be a quiet separation if he goes completely around the bend and starts to take it out on the kid. All she has to do is outlive him.
I think she's trying to keep as low a profile as possible and trying to be non controversial. Unfortunately, First Ladies are always lightning rods for criticism, so whatever she does will be slammed.

(21,871 posts)who thought that would be a nice, warm, kid-friendly setup to tell a childrens' story? Why not tell the story with an actual bunch of kids in front of you? And show real emotion?
Or something like this:
