Florida, Arizona and Texas set records for new COVID-19 cases

Source: NBC News

Florida, Texas and Arizona set records for new COVID-19 cases, and more than a dozen other states are also reporting big jumps in the number of cases as much of the country reopens after months of quarantine.

Are the governors in the worst-hit states considering another shutdown? Not a chance, if you ask them.

“No, we’re not shutting down, you know, we’re going to go forward,” Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis said Tuesday. “You have to have society function.”

Never mind that the Sunshine State recorded 2,610 new cases Wednesday -- just below Tuesday's record of 2,783 -- and the death toll rose from 2,993 to 3,018.

Another day, another record.

I bet that the Republican Governors of these state’s will pull a Trump and just look for another scapegoat. Perhaps they will blame Mexican immigrants and ask Trump to once again send thousands of troops to the Mexican border just before the election like in 2018.

Who needs solutions when you can just count on racism, hate and Fox News.

to the new inclusion of inmates with Covid.

Here it is (from Worldometers)...
Texas: "The reported cases for June 16 include 2,622 new cases and 1,476 cases that were previously diagnosed among Texas Department of Criminal Justice inmates but that had not been reported by local health departments (887 from Anderson County and 589 from Brazoria County)."

It is skyrocketing among young people.

I live in San Antonio and we are hitting records..we have a jail (but that outbreak has petered out) and we had outbreaks in nursing homes (those have petered out). Our mayor said new cases are young people and they aren't complying with contact tracing. The same for Hays County (no real facilities besides a county jail ) Neither county has meat packing or state prisons. The state prison data merge was a few weeks ago.

We have young people who don't read the news (including my grown kids) rivers, bars, malls and protests...Young adults in general are taking more risks..One son lives in Houston and he has traveled up several times, but stays with in laws, but he gets together with my other son and their kids play in the blow up pool together and he also wants to come up and spend the weekend at our house for father's day. I keep telling him. Although, I miss my grandkids, they are just more risk taking in general..

It is also shooting up in the Rio Grande Valley and also Corpus Christi. I don't know if it is general public or from facilities though. They don't have meat packing down there.

FL lies too. If it is the young people and not inmate than there really is no controlling it. They are irresponsible and selfish for putting others in danger. If only they would get sick I would 't be as pissed off.

the numbers would be staggering. Can't do that though, no way! Gotta' make Little Donnie happy by keeping those numbers low. As a natter of fact, I fully expect DeSantis to stop all testing just to say Florida is OPEN FOR BUSINESS!
