WASHINGTON Dr. Anthony Fauci says he wouldnt personally attend any upcoming rallies that President Donald Trump plans to hold for his 2020 re-election campaign because the coronavirus is still spreading.
"I'm in a high-risk category. Personally, I would not. Of course not," Fauci, whos 79, said in an interview with The Daily Beast on Tuesday.
He added about Trump campaign rallies, "outside is better than inside, no crowd is better than crowd" and crowd is better than big crowd.
Trump is scheduled to host his first campaign rally in months on Saturday in Tulsa, Oklahoma, inside of the city's BOK Center, which can hold more than 19,000 people. The president claimed Monday that 1 million people had requested tickets to the event.

(6,907 posts)If I was that fossil I'd be scared shitless to attend BUT, it's the only reason Trump is in really RED State Oklahoma to try and keep snowball Jimmy from getting his ass beat by Abby Broyles.

(17,309 posts)Fauci is old news, the masses have pushed him out of their conscienceless along with all other things associated with the virus. Trump's 40% would love him for dumping Fauci, and that is who Trump keeps pandering to. Sure there would be outrage in places like this, but , it would not be a nationally groundbreaking event, and just a blip in the news cycle.

(5,751 posts)They all signed wavers, right? Are there any legal implications, other than not suing? Can their employers find out? At minimum there should be a surcharge on their withholding for health insurance.

(25,169 posts)to get a handle on how many people are intending on coming to Tulsa and from where? Are filghts into Tulsa fully booked. What about trains and buses? Have hotels in the area filled up? Can one still get a room there?
These same prople that intend to come to this event will then spread back over the states that they reside.
We should be able to get a read on attendance before the event and where likely hotspots for Covid will breakout afterwards.

(495 posts)A quite remarkable, giving life at that.
I'm pretty sure his #1 goal is to save as many lives, reduce as much suffering, and protect the world from Trump using whatever tools he has available.
Could be wrong, but that is my read.

(935 posts)because of a shortage. That was wrong. The entire handling of Covid has been a disaster. The message has never stayed on point, to much flip flopping by the "experts". Purposely lying by Trump and even the "Experts".

(59,475 posts)I think, in fact, that the Hatch Act means people in the administration, other than VP and President, can not be involved in a political event.
