Listen to Mr. tough ass now:
I am sick with remorse for the pain and fear I caused the victims on the trail, and online, Mr. Brennan said in a statement released by his lawyers, Andrew Jezic and David Moyse. I am cooperating fully with authorities. I am committed to making amends by addressing, through counseling, the underlying issues that led to my abhorrent behavior.

We have a very serious mental deformity called right-wing brainwashing in our nation, perhaps afflicting 50-million people to varying degrees. I'm not sure there's a practical cure other than them just dying out.
I do agree that this guy may have a history of bad anger control that's gone untreated. It's bad when a grown man can't hold his temper and let other folks be regardless of his politics. It will be interesting to see what comes out in his trial.

Something to Remember Come November

(2,690 posts)Put it on TV about October, as a reminder of who these people actually are. And remember, this dirtbag is just one of millions -- yes, dammit, millions -- who think like him and would have done the same thing. So the real adults in America need to remember on November 3rd exactly who the opposition to Biden and democracy actually comprises.
I am so glad this person was apprehended.

Momentary lapse of reason. I had a father kind of like that. Full of fury and spectacle and sliverback violence, and the sight triggered something in me.
Theoretically, however -- I would recommend excluding this person from society until he's fixed. A grown man who attacks three children -- this is more than a fine. This is serious business. You can't let him roam around free because he artfully apologizes. He needs a reset.
And to be brutally frank -- I'm a parent. An adult that attacked and traumatized my children -- I won't even say it out loud. But I can tell you the thought brings out the Very Worst in me.

shouldn't we say he's allegedly guilty of assault.
Remember, innocent until proven guilty to a jury of his peers.
Aren't we better than republicans?

(37,748 posts)Our opinions to that same guilt or innocence are without wholly consequence.... so I'm not really sure what your problem with the non-binding opinions of other people is. and I sure as hell don't get why you think holding an opinion of guilt is akin to being a Republican.
It seems yours is simply lazy thinking predicated on bumper sticker sloganeering... else your sentiment would have read, "Aren't we allegedly better than republicans?"

(6,147 posts)I will accept that you think he is sincere.
I still want him arrested, tried and, based on the film, convicted. And when he is convicted, I want him sentenced to the fullest extent of the law. No time off for "contriteness".
Moreover, I do not want his testimony of "contriteness" to be admissible in court. It should have no bearing on the case.
I would have a tad more respect for him if he pled guilty while he was making his statement of contriteness, and accepted the sentence that is warranted for assaulting an 11 year old girl.
I don't think this has anything to do with my political party. I am not putting a title to him, like "racist". I am going strictly by the video. He assaulted a child.
I don't see how anyone can justify assaulting an 11 year old child.
Anyone, in my mind, who justifies his behavior, is likely to be racist. Because there is NO justification for what he did.
Amy-Strange
(854 posts)-
and takes the consequences?
Anyone can be contrite, but the real proof is what they do after.
But of course, if they're trying to put him in prison for a really long time, then I really can't blame him for pleading not guilty.

someone can certainly be contrite for real after they've been caught, even if it is self-serving.

There is literally nothing in that video of what Anthony Brennan III did that was OK. It was not OK. It was awful. It will cause lasting emotional damage in children that can't be fixed. This will be a traumatic memory for the rest of their lives.
He can apologize, of course. It is literally the very least he can do. He still needs a jail term.
Withywindle
(9,988 posts)At age 60, he should damn well know that it's not OK to physically assault and terrorize kids because they have a political position he doesn't like. The video showed a man acting out in a scary level of rage, and if his anger management is that far out of control, then the only reason he's lived this long is privilege.
Why on earth are you reading articles on Fox anyway? That's a source I guarantee you no one here takes seriously.
