White House compares Trump's church visit to Churchill
Source: The Hill
White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany on Wednesday compared President Trumps photo opportunity in front of St. Johns Episcopal Church to former British Prime Minister Winston Churchills examination of World War II bombing damage in 1941.
The press secretary likened the controversial walk by Trump, which was immediately preceded by police aggressively pushing peaceful protesters out of Lafayette Square, not only to the famous Churchill visit but also to several notable moments in U.S. presidential history.
Through all of time, we have seen presidents and leaders across the world who have had leadership moments and very powerful symbols that were important for a nation to see at any given time to show a message of resilience and determination, she said, "Like Churchill, we saw him inspecting the bombing damage. It sent a powerful message of leadership to the British people.
...
"And George W. Bush throwing out the ceremonial first pitch after 9/11 and Jimmy Carter putting on a sweater to encourage energy savings and George H.W. Bush signing the Americans with Disabilities Act flanked by two disabled Americans," added McEnany, who looked at notes on her podium as she spoke.

And she's comparing civil rights demonstrators to Nazis???

(9,426 posts)England during WW11, I saw first hand bombed buildings. The devastation of homes bombed. I resent this putty-faced spokesmodel comparing the situation in DC to bomb damage in the war. By the way, you self-important bitch, Churchill did not CAUSE that war, like your lord and master caused the damage in this country I can understand WHY she got this job. Feckless liar. Go get more botox, dear, you are starting to look your age. Maybe Maleria could give you the number for her "kidney doctor".
They've lost their fucking minds.

I don't recall a single president in my lifetime who compared himself with Churchill. Or any other leader. They let their actions stand on their own.
I wonder if these people even listen to themselves?

(9,426 posts)How asinine is this scrawny little wafer thin airhead? I saw her posing in front of the church with tRump and others. The army could drive a tank between her bowed legs!! Scrawny does not even come close to describing her body and legs. tRump should throw her some of his leftover fast food.

(50,528 posts)This isn't in your average history book, but Fayetteville was the home of the Confederacy's biggest arsenal. When Sherman came to Fayetteville, he burned the town to the ground to make sure any guns that might have been secreted from the arsenal had been destroyed. He didn't leave until everything was gone.
Most cities have historic buildings. Fayetteville has little signs: "The historical structure that once stood on this site was destroyed during Sherman's March to the Sea."

(81,392 posts)Anderson Cooper Goes Off on Kayleigh McEnany for Trump-Churchill Comments: This President Praises Tyrants!
Kayleigh Mcenany, who seems like a nice person, I know her, she used to be a commentator at CNN, seems like a person of strong faith. Maybe she believes what shes saying, he said. But comparing the president of the United States to Winston Churchill?
Churchill joined the military, saw combat. The president avoided all that, as we know. Bone spurs, were told, Cooper elaborated. Churchill wrote books. The president, hes had books ghostwritten for him.
He continued going down a list and said, Churchill rallied Britain in the face of evil. He united the world against it. This president praises tyrants. He seeks to emulate them. The press secretary compares the two men I mean, shes right. Theyre both leaders of countries. Theyre both old. Theyre both large. And both walked through rubble. One did it for his country. Trump did it for himself.
