Demonstrations continued across the United States on Sunday as the nation braced for another grueling night of unrest over police shootings and the death of George Floyd, amid growing concern that aggressive law enforcement tactics intended to impose order were instead inflaming tensions.
Videos showed police officers in recent nights using batons, tear gas, pepper spray and rubber bullets on protesters, bystanders and journalists, often without warning or seemingly unprovoked. The footage, which has been shared widely online, highlighted the very complaints over police behavior that have drawn protests in at least 75 cities across the United States.

NY Times does a great job reconstructing the events of what occurred during George Floyds arrest.
I wanted to know what prompted the take down when he was already handcuffed.
This video shows the Officer Chauvin dragged him out of the back seat of the police car.
All this was prompted because of a counterfeit $20 bill.

Definitely not deserving an instant public death sentence without even a trial.

(3,171 posts)It looked either like he was struggling with them or they were beating the living shit out of him, or both. I can't imagine why a takedown like that was required when he was cuffed and subdued. I wonder if the autopsy showed other injuries besides those to the neck.
I try to give cops the benefit of the doubt when I can, but that's just not possible here. Floyd was no threat to them or anyone else. I don't think they intended to kill him, but they sure did act with depraved indifference once one of them had a knee on his neck.
