Homeland Security contract officer shot and killed amid protests in Oakland

Source: San Francisco Chronicle

Oakland police and the FBI in San Francisco are investigating a Friday night shooting at the Ronald V. Dellums federal building downtown on Clay Street, which left one contract security officer dead, and another wounded.

That incident began when a car pulled up to the building at 9:45 p.m. and a person inside the vehicle fired gunshots at the officers. Both were working for the Federal Protective Service of the Department of Homeland Security. The FBI sent investigators and an evidence response team to the crime scene, and said in a statement Saturday that they would work with Oakland police to solve the case.

The federal building was in the area of violent protests Friday night over the police killing of George Floyd in Minneapolis.

Sixty suspected looters were detained in the protest, as demonstrators smashed windows and set fires inside buildings to express their outrage over Floyd’s death.

2. Trump will use acts like this to manipulate public opinion and win reelection. No one knows who

is really fomenting the violence but Trump will be the ultimate beneficiary of a society perceived to be out of control. Once the rage has subsided he can play the strong leader and will take credit for getting things back under control. Lost in the current violence is the public and media focus on Trump's failure to deal with the current pandemic, an issue that should cost him the election.

This government is commercializing its horrors.

They would deputize any white male with a gun in order to protect their asses (assets).

My brother worked security at buildings before. Often times low paying jobs that have few benefits, but they have fairly low requirements and attract lower income people from all races. These guys did not murder George Floyd.

That might be nonsense, though. I read it yesterday from a source I don't really trust.

9. They are guards who work in a federal building

Their nights are spent checking doors, chatting with the cleaning staff, and saying goodnight to people on the way out at the front desk(if anyone is working there right now). They probably make 15 bucks an hour. They may even be a minority. Not everyone is the boogeyman "thug" you cook up in your mind.

You should consider deleting your post. It's pretty shameful.
