Minnesota governor apologizes for arrest of CNN team
CNN president Jeff Zucker spoke with the governor of Minnesota, Tim Walz on Friday morning, following the arrest of CNN's team in Minneapolis,
Walz said he "deeply apologizes" for what happened and is working to have the CNN team released immediately.
Walz described the arrests as "unacceptable," said CNN's team clearly has the right to be there, and said he wants the media to be in Minnesota to cover the protests.

(45,380 posts)unless they can isolate this as only their local police are fascist idiots.
State Attorney General Keith Ellison (and former DNC co-chair) is looking to charge the 4 officers who killed George Floyd with something that will stick. Since most lawyers understand they would get away with murder, it has to be something else.

(19,186 posts)in his other racist escapades as a Police Officer in Minneapolis. This isn't Chauvin's first barn dance as a racist, reactionary jack-booted thug. I imagine it was because of "technicalities". They want to make sure there aren't any "technicalities" this time. At least I hope that's what's taking all this time for him to be arrested. Chauvin must go down for this, and if he doesn't, this country is going to burn. That's exactly what Donald J. Trump is hoping for. Just my opinion.

(28,835 posts)She had much to do with making Minnesota cops untouchable when she was the state's chief prosecutor, refusing to bring charges against some two dozen officers who killed civilians while on duty including one of the cops involved here.

(28,835 posts)The decision came after she'd been elected to the Senate true, but Chauvin's first killing came while she was still Hennepin County DA, and her spin notwithstanding she did decline to prosecute in two dozen cases of police killings of citizens. That's not rumors citrculating on the internet. That's from The Washington Post.
At the same time, Klobuchar was aggressively going after perpetrators of crimes like vandalism, asking for longer than normal sentences for small felonies and juvenile crime. She said Guiliani's Broken Windows Theory was correct, and ran on a zero tolerance policy towards non-violent crimes. And sure the system is the real culprit, but that doesn't exonerate those who play it for all they can get and ride it to higher office.
Even now she uses copaganda euphemisms like "officer involved death". BTW Kamala Harris has this kind of baggage as well from her time as SF DA. Admittedly, she is one hell of a lot smarter than Klobuchar, but just as dangerous a choice as the Minnesota bluedog. Biden had best pick Warren if he wants to win.

(24,926 posts)Hennepin County Attorney. You are correct however that she didn't prosecute Derek Chauvin for previous incidents.

(10,494 posts)have the police accused of wrong doing prosecuted by the local DAs office. Each state needs a special prosecutors office to only investigate and prosecute cops in their state. Only then will there be justice in these situations.

(2,626 posts)It looks like Minnesota Law Enforcement is in a contest to win tRump's favor by killing a Black man in cold blood and then arresting journalists who report on the resulting demonstrations exhibiting the community's frustration and anger.

(7,220 posts)We could see Omar live on TV, showing his press pass to the police very calmly and respectfully. What, they've never heard of a black reporter? All they had to do was look on CNN and see themselves in real time.
