President Donald Trump blasted protesters in Minnesota outraged over the killing of George Floyd.
I cant stand back & watch this happen to a great American City, Minneapolis, Trump tweeted after midnight.
A total lack of leadership. Either the very weak Radical Left Mayor, Jacob Frey, get his act together and bring the City under control, or I will send in the National Guard & get the job done right, he wrote, even though the National Guard was already deployed. ...................................

1:15 a.m.: Trump says military could assume control in city, 'when the looting starts, the shooting starts'
President Donald Trump has weighed in on the destructive protests in Minneapolis early Friday morning, saying the military could 'assume control' of the response.
"These THUGS are dishonoring the memory of George Floyd, and I wont let that happen," Trump tweeted early Friday morning. "Just spoke to Governor Tim Walz and told him that the Military is with him all the way. Any difficulty and we will assume control but, when the looting starts, the shooting starts."
Trump also attacked Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey, saying the protests are a result of a lack of leadership.
"Either the very weak Radical Left Mayor, Jacob Frey, get his act together and bring the City under control, or I will send in the National Guard & get the job done right," Trump tweeted.

The US president Donald Trump has lashed out at those protesting in Minneapolis over the death of an unarmed black man in police custody, calling those involved in a third night of street clashes "thugs".
Mr Trump said he would not "stand back and watch this happen to a great American City", adding that he had spoken to Minnesota governor Tim Waltz and told him "the military is with him all the way".
"Any difficulty and we will assume control but, when the looting starts, the shooting starts," Mr Trump warned.
Protesters in Minneapolis are calling for criminal charges to be brought against four police officers who were involved in the arrest of 46-year-old George Floyd on Monday night. Mr Floyd died in custody after telling officers "I can't breathe", with video of the incident showing one policeman stood over Mr Floyd with his knee in his kneck. All four officers have been dismissed from their posts.

(6,547 posts)Some of the officers involved were at the Minnesota tRump rally in October. Bob Krull, president of the Mpls police union, who was a speaker at that rally, has gone against training protocols prohibiting trainings that include "killology" techniques. He continues to offer those "warrior" trainings to any officer requesting them. Guess who was one of his trainees. Derek Chauvin. tRump is behind what is happening in Minnesota as far as I am concerned. The police departments in the metro area need to do an in depth investigation of allegations of police brutality complaints and deal with them accordingly. Officers going against the decisions made by their employers has to stop.

(19,193 posts)"roughing up" protestors, and I imagine he thinks Chauvin was justified in his murderous actions.
When you guys put somebody in the car and you're protecting their head, you know, the way you put their hand over, like, don't hit their head and they've just killed somebody. Don't hit their head. I said, you can take the hand away, okay?
There was a pause after Trumps delivery, and then the officers behind him began to clap and cheer. The clip drew swift condemnation online, as it seemed to portray Trump advocating for reckless treatment by police of those they are arresting and police enthusiastically supporting the idea.

Long is the history of bad apples in positions where they have sworn to serve and protect. Nothing ever seems to change.

(11,885 posts)His own father. Got arrested for protesting and fighting with the KKK against the police, and then bailed them out. Trump was also with his dad discriminating against blacks and found guilty of it, but wants to criticize people protesting now for cops murdering a black person in broad daylight, and filmed, and now whines about their actions. Media needs to remind the public his father was a protester too, with the KKK. I think trumps tactics will be repeated, he'll play both sides, suggesting one thing one day , then change the next . He'll call for justice for show but after the election he'll then do as he always does, claim some bs claim then pardon the officers, and go after them using Barr to hurt any protesters by demanding they receive really harsh sentencing , while these murdering cops walk off Scott free.
