Bethel School District wrestling coach fired over social media post about George Floyd

Source: KIRO 7

The Bethel School District told KIRO 7 on Thursday that it has fired a first-year high school wrestling coach after investigating a social media post that showed him on the ground with a knee on the back of his neck as he smiles and gives a thumbs-up.

"We have completed our investigation. Dave Hollenbeck is no longer employed by the Bethel School District. His behavior was not consistent with our equity initiatives and nondiscrimination policies,” said district spokesman Doug Boyles.

The post was in reference to George Floyd, who died Monday after Minneapolis police pinned him to the ground with a knee to the neck. Viral video showed Floyd pleading that he could not breathe.

“This is for all the race baiters and people that don’t What (sic) they’re talking about when they’re saying that this could kill you,” read the Facebook post, which appeared to have since been deleted from the coach Dave Hollenbeck’s page.

for posting evidence of his awfulness on social media. The good thing about social media is that it lets us know who the awful people are.

It reminds me of a joke I heard once that took place on the home front in World War II. The housing shortage was a nightmare, and people were going to outlandish lengths to obtain lodging. A guy was walking by the river when he saw someone drowning. He rushed to the water's edge and asked for the man's name and address. The drowning man told him, then sank beneath the surface. Our guy rushes to the address and asks to rent the spare room, telling the owner "Your lodger just drowned in the river." The owner replied "I'm sorry, sir; you're too late. The room was just rented by the man who pushed him in."

when are these fucking idiots going to learn that putting shit like this on the internet where anyone can see it is a very bad idea?

I guess in a way, it's a good thing, that way we get to know who the racist assholes are.

Because it's fucking always projection with conservatives

If it wasn't a knee to the neck what was it? And the idiot posting that picture is missing the larger point.

The police killed a person with excessive force. They were not defending their lives in a shoot out or dealing with a meth-enhanced machete-wielding super-villain. A man is dead at the hands of law enforcement personnel whose motto is supposed to be "Serve and Protect".

A man is dead because he is black. By and large, the police in this country do not believe that black lives matter, and the courts and our elected officials are behaving in the same way by not holding them accountable.

These people have become so embolden. I bet he's an asshole of a coach. Who knows how many kids were getting hazed and bullied by him. Seriously, firing a coach with this poor of judgment is the best thing for that school district
