New poll shows Sara Gideon leading Susan Collins by 9 points

Source: Bangor Daily news

Updated: May 28, 2020 9:44 am

Ethan: Did you take a look at the new poll on the U.S. Senate race I just sent? It shows U.S. Sen. Susan Collins losing 51 percent to 42 percent to House Speaker Sara Gideon!

Phil: A-yuh. Sobering news for Susan. However, I caution you, my excitable friend, that this is merely a momentary snapshot six months before Election Day................

Phil: While no one should ever underestimate Susan Collins, the trend in the last few public polls is certainly in the wrong direction for those of us who want to see her re-elected. In March we saw a poll that showed her down 4 points. Two months later, she is now down 9.

Ethan: If I were on Team Collins what I would find most concerning is that Gideon is winning by 20+ points among women and seven points among independents, usually her backstop...........................................

In the northeast it is only Maine that has a Republican senator
Maine has no Democratic U.S. Senators presently serving.
There are two independent U.S. Senators: Sanders and King

Interesting bit of trivia:
There are only 8 states that have 1 senator from each major party:
Pennsylvania, Ohio, West Virginia, Alabama, Montana, Wisconsin, Colorado and Arizona
Of those, two will almost definitely become 1 party sates: Colorado and Alabama
Arizona and Montana are good chances
Be nice if we could pick up West Virginia. Unfortunately, as popular as Joe Manchin is in the state, he seems to have no coattails. I know 3 people from West Virginia (1 Democrat and 2 Republican) and and all three have said they voted for Manchin every time. Would love to see Capito sent packing.

No I didn't...

BYE BYE Susan!

I hope you drown in your concern!

All disrespect available wished your way and don't worry, that refrain is for all Republicans in all 3 branches of this so called government, meant for ALL the people!

Plus, the Republicans will pour unprecedented millions into lost causes like Collins, Gardner and McSilly just to make us fight for what should be easy pickups, and distract from the tougher, less likely ones, like Kentucky, South Carolina, Iowa and North Carolina. They will do everything to take Alabama back, and will make a huge move to make Michigan look shaky as well.

Knock on every door, get out every vote. This will not be a freebie.
