Trump threatens to veto FISA bill ahead of House vote

Source: The Hill

BY MORGAN CHALFANT AND JORDAIN CARNEY - 05/27/20 07:08 PM EDT

President Trump is threatening to veto legislation reauthorizing expired government surveillance tools if it passes in the House, citing “massive abuse” of the government powers in the Russia investigation.

“If the FISA Bill is passed tonight on the House floor, I will quickly VETO it. Our Country has just suffered through the greatest political crime in its history. The massive abuse of FISA was a big part of it!” Trump tweeted Wednesday, referring to the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act.

Trump’s opposition to the legislation, first voiced Tuesday night, threw a major curveball into its passage. The bill would reauthorize three lapsed surveillance programs under the USA Freedom Act, a 2015 law, and make some changes to the FISA court.

Trump urged Republicans to oppose the legislation, demanding further investigation into the origins of the FBI’s investigation into Russia's election interference and his 2016 campaign.

Yeah, sure there has been some rumblings about the scope of the bill, but still. In protecting the American public from terrorists and such...rump's concern is a very minor one and of course he magnifies it to such ridiculous lengths (all about him), especially when viewed w/ the real facts that Russian interests (and others) did try to interfere w/ U.S. elections among other things such as stealing business secrets (mostly China), etc.

And from what I understand, FISA warrants have to be approved by not just 1 judge, but 3 judges.

Let me fix that sentence for you Donny.

Our Country is now suffering from the greatest crime in history. Which was the
rigging of our elections by a hostile foreign power in order to install Donald Trump
and other Republicans in power. Remember that Russ Feingold was @ a 90 to 95%
chance of winning back his senate seat but somehow he lost and in no small part
because Russia was very busy in Wisconsin.*

GREEN BAY - County websites of the Democratic Party in the area have been under attack, at least one apparently by Russian hackers, an officer of the party says.

snip

Two new users showed up as registered administrators of the website: larisa@steamreal.ru and ewartumba@mail.ru. The “.ru” suffix indicates a Russian origin, Benson said. The profile pages of the users had characters in the Russian alphabet in "Address" and "About Me" fields, she said.

Code was entered, apparently through a back door, to add two registered users, but the website is set up to automatically block new registrants, so the intruders could do no damage. "It's not clear how they got there," Benson said.

The intruders could just as easily have removed all trace of having been there and just backed quietly out, but they chose to leave their names “as if to say ‘we can get in whenever we want,’” Benson said.

Donald Trump is President. Russia/Vlad was in all 50 states and they were not there "just
to look around."

... and central tabulators and he wasn't there just "to look around." You can tell just how big the
rigging is by the size of the Trump/Fox News/GOP push back to voting by mail.

An early story that brings up 39 states.
