Whitmer says husband's boat dock request was bad joke: 'I wasn't laughing either'

Source: Detroit Free Press

LANSING – Gov. Gretchen Whitmer said Tuesday that her husband made a failed attempt at humor last week when he asked a boat contractor whether his status as Michigan's "First Gentleman" would help him get his boat in the water ahead of the Memorial Day weekend.

"He thought it might get a laugh," Whitmer said of her husband, dentist Marc Mallory.

"It didn't, and to be honest I wasn't laughing either when it was relayed to me because I knew how it would be perceived."

She said the controversy was the result of "a failed attempt at humor."

"Controversy?" Are you kidding me? And Michigan Republican's faux outrage is duly noted. In the meantime, MIGOP legislators are still dicking around. Our infrastructure is still crumbling and they haven't done a fucking thing.

Give me a goddamned break.

It still is one more example of Government families wanting different rules. He asked to have his boat put in the water before the ban was lifted. I also seem to remember that the First Family cars were spotted at their Vacation home even though Governor Whitmer asked the rest of the State to not travel their second homes.

Same with Governor Pitzker in Illinois. Traveling out of state to Wisconsin to his family farm, and some reports of his family going to Florida to their second home.

We have Trump golfing, and probably scads of other examples of what’s good for the public, I sn’t good enough for me.

Is it a scandal? No, but it’s not a pretty look either.

10. You are probably referring to social media rumors

There was an 11 year old photo of Whitmer's husband's car at the second home circulating on Facebook and being presented as "recent" over the weekend.

13. I remember Pritzker getting a bit testy when confronted

I don't like Pritzker and have very little use for him. He seems like another Blago type to me. He and about 1/2 of DU expects us to kiss his hinder just because he ran as a D. Nope.

You want to impose all sorts of rules instead of getting all huffy when you're called out on the horseshit your family does you admit that you made a mistake and that you and your family will live by the rules going forward.

Pritzker is like Blago?
In what parallel universe?
Blago got caught pursuing power & self-enrichment illegally.
What could tempt a guy with 3 billion, not counting the eventual inheritance?
He's a philanthropist. Blago was not.
He's independently wealthy. Blago was not.
He supports unions. Blago did not, until it was politically & financially expedient.
He speaks out against racial inequities. Blago did not. He ran for cover on such controversies.
As I said, we strongly disagree.

But I would expect her to defend him. People will often defend family against all odds of being believed.
