Trump to participate in Memorial Day wreath laying at Arlington National Cemetery

Source: CNN

President Donald Trump on Monday will participate in the annual wreath laying ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery to help commemorate Memorial Day, White House spokesman Judd Deere confirmed to CNN.

Separately Monday, the President along with first lady Melania Trump, will travel to Baltimore to visit Ft. McHenry. The successful defense there of the Baltimore Harbor in 1814 during the War of 1812 led to the writing of the "Star-Spangled Banner."

The visit will come in spite of a plea for Trump to rethink his visit from Baltimore Mayor Bernard "Jack" Young, who has said it will send the wrong message at a time when he is asking the city's residents not to travel. Baltimore is one of the areas of concern for public health officials worried about the spread of coronavirus. "I'm asking the President to rethink his trip. It sends a bad, bad message to the citizens of Baltimore because I'm asking them to stay home and only come out for essential reasons," Young told CNN's John King on Friday. "I just want him to set the example for the rest of the country and not do this trip, because it's not essential."

White House spokesman Judd Deere responded to Young's criticism by stating that "the brave men and women who have preserved our freedoms for generations did not stay home and the President will not either as he honors their sacrifice by visiting such a historic landmark in our Nation's history."

Trump's last visit to Baltimore was in the fall of 2019 a few months after he tweeted that the city was a "rat and rodent infested mess." He's said he doesn't regret the comments.

I figure the drill sergeants would have taken one look at him and pronounced, as one, “duty soldier.” In the Army we have duty bodies. Everyone has to take a turn at doing Army BS. (The best Army BS I ever did was inventorying the walk-in freezer at the Yongsan commissary...in July, when it was about a thousand degrees outside. You put on this really good winter suit, head into the freezer and stay there all day. It was great.) The Duty Soldier, which they had in Vietnam, had no other job than to do shit details. You don’t get a weapon, you just spend all day doing menial labor. Perfect job for President 021.

owned brothels, and was a pimp? It would explain the tRump family penchant for women who must be paid to associate with them. Decent women want nothing to do with them. Parscale's Pac is giving Lara tRump (Eric's wife) and Kimberly Gargoyle (Don Jr.'s girlfriend) each $15,000 monthly from donor contributions. I wonder if the Pac also pays Jr.'s child support for his 5 kids?

I keep thinking of how many brave soldiers we lost or who were maimed/mentally affected during that war and how they would think of this country right now. I'll bet they would think "we did not fight and die for this assault on our democracy".

I am very good friends with a woman whose husband fought in WWII and when he died during the Dubya years she said to me, "They gave me a flag and plaque in his honor but if Bob only knew it was signed by Bush, he'd throw it away." She also said he and his fellow WWII veterans despised Bush with a passion.

My Dad was in WWII, my Grandfather was a WWI veteran. They would have despised trump, everything he stands for, and what he's done to their country.

Sad to say, when my Dad died, all we received was a letter that had a photo-copied Obama signature. With my Grandfather, there was the whole ceremony--military gun salute and my Grandmother formally presented with the folded flag.
