Democrats John Velis and Susan Moran were declared the WINNERS of tonight's special elections

Moments ago, Democrats John Velis and Susan Moran were declared the WINNERS of tonight's special elections for the Massachusetts Senate!
John and Susan's victories mean that TWO Republican-held seats have just flipped into the Democratic column one of which had been in GOP hands for nearly a quarter-century. It also proves that when amazing candidates like John and Susan step up to run, backed by grassroots Democrats across the nation, we can win anywhere.
Now, it's time to put our momentum to the test: In just a few weeks, another key special election is on the ballot in Kentucky just minutes from Mitch McConnell's house in an area that could be crucial for McConnell's own re-election hopes.

(402 posts)What is the special election in Kentucky that you are referring to? I can't vote there since I live in Nevada, but I lived there for the first half of my life and I still have family there. Eternal hope that they will eventually vote McConnell out of his seat or at least, turn the Senate Blue and take away some of his power.

(402 posts)I wouldn't commit voter fraud. I just want the people to wise up and quit voting for that A-hole.

(17,083 posts)New York's 27th District runs from just east of Buffalo to just west of Rochester, and down into the Finger Lakes. The seat was vacated when republican crook Chris Collins was convicted of insider trading from - get this - the White House lawn!
Nate McMurray came within .37% of beating Collins in the 2018 election, and he had little Democratic Party support. He created a huge grassroots movement in all the little Western New York burgs and hamlets. He's running strong, but he needs our help- especially since the Coronavirus has taken him off the road. The republicans are running a billionaire dirtbag with the typical puke priorities.
I live way on the other side of the country, but McMurray's such a stellar Democrat that his representation will turn Western New York blue if he can get elected. He needs our support:

Bottom line is that the MA State Senate is now 36-4 Democratic (not a misprint!), so these wins don't represent a major shift in power. But we still have a Republican governor, for better or worse, with no strong Democratic opponent in sight.
