Medical Expert Who Corrects Trump Is Now a Target of the Far Right
Source: NYT
At a White House briefing on the coronavirus on March 20, President Trump called the State Department the Deep State Department. Behind him, Dr. Anthony S. Fauci, the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, dropped his head and rubbed his forehead.
Some thought Dr. Fauci was slighting the president, leading to a vitriolic online reaction. On Twitter and Facebook, a post that falsely claimed he was part of a secret cabal who opposed Mr. Trump was soon shared thousands of times, reaching roughly 1.5 million people.
A week later, Dr. Fauci the administrations most outspoken advocate of emergency measures to fight the coronavirus outbreak has become the target of an online conspiracy theory that he is mobilizing to undermine the president.
That fanciful claim has spread across social media, fanned by a right-wing chorus of Mr. Trumps supporters, even as Dr. Fauci has won a public following for his willingness to contradict the president and correct falsehoods and overly rosy pronouncements about containing the virus.
An analysis by The New York Times found over 70 accounts on Twitter that have promoted the hashtag #FauciFraud, with some tweeting as frequently as 795 times a day. The anti-Fauci sentiment is being reinforced by posts from Tom Fitton, the president of Judicial Watch, a conservative group; Bill Mitchell, host of the far-right online talk show YourVoice America; and other outspoken Trump supporters such as Shiva Ayyadurai, who has falsely claimed to be the inventor of email.

PDJT should have a hotel manager, a. Leaning lady from a hotel at the
presser and let Nanzi and Shoe-mah have it by name and call out their
love for baby murders as the reason these folks are laid-off.

(256 posts)Do they think that pushing conspiracy theories will stop the spread of Covid-19? Fauci is the one person that Trump has that normal people have trust for first off. From a purely political advantageous perspective he is the voice of reason and not a fucking meth addled rhino like Trump. Which helps calm the masses and is better to help us thru this.
Secondly if they keep pushing the conspiracies its only gonna make Covid-19 worse, kill more, cause more damage which hurts his re-election chances. Its like nothing is more important than ensuring Trump is never challenged or any info contradicting him released to ensure his followers keep believing "he knows all and is never wrong." Its just how Hitler was treated by his subordinates. So sick of the never ending conspiracy bullshit from Trumpland.

(18,907 posts)there's a building containing a certain number of trolls whose job it is to destroy Democratic Governments around the world. In the Unites States section of that troll farm, there's a single troll who's studied Donald Trump and his far right toadies extensively, and in a few minutes a day can push enough of their moronic buttons to keep them howling for weeks. This troll has the easiest job in the troll farm, because fools are so easy to manipulate. Putin loves this troll, and one day this troll will be given the 'Hero of the Russian Federation' award for destroying the United States from within, by manipulating the feeble minded nitwits of the far right.
