'Absolutely ridiculous' to militarize U.S.-Canada border over COVID-19, Higgins says

Source: WBFO All Things Considered

Rep. Brian Higgins (D-Buffalo) is blasting proposals in Washington to start sending American military to the U.S. border with Canada to help all of the federal agencies that now patrol the border.

...

America's longest undefended border totals around 4,400 miles and hasn't been militarized since after the American Civil War.

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau told a news conference Thursday he is aware the proposal is being looked at by those who say it would help thwart the movement of COVID-19. He said Canada is in talks with the United States in hopes of avoiding the deployment. Trudeau said it is in the best interests of both countries that the world's longest unmilitarized border remain that way.

As he struts around, holding the power of life and death over the heads of people he doesn't like, he gets off on the power of it all. This is the malignant part of that diagnosis of malignant narcissist the shrinks have been warning about since the election.

Make no mistake, he is LOVING this. And by throwing red meat to his drooling hoards of mouth-breathing, knuckle-draggers, the biggest chunk he can toss them is a BIG ASS MILITARY display.

When Americans start fleeing there to flee the coronoavirus.

It's already started in Mexico: Locals "have shut a US southern border crossing amid fears that untested American travellers will spread coronavirus."

Nah, nah! But sugar maples don't know no borders, so it's sugaring time all over the north country.

The guys down the road from me have cranked up their operation. Lots of tote tanks being hauled in and out of the woods this time of year.

What were they going to do? Hang around the border crossings? Hell, I know of several places you can just walk into Canada, far from any border checkpoint. Handy to know if you're on the run like in The Handmaid's Tale.

The benefit is to advance their cause. They're probing and trying all kinds of angles to find an excuse for declaring martial law and suspending the election. Since most of the people in this country are content with trading freedom for comfort, there's no reason to think it won't happen. I mean, what do you think these right-wing fascists are doing? Do you think they are just wasting their time in the persuit of media-circus sensationalism? They are taking action to achieve their goals, because well, you know, it can never happen here.

Even George W. Bush was smart enough to say Canada is like "a brother" to the United States.

I don’t know what Trump is smoking but someone should make him pee in a cup.
