Rep. Garamendi: NIH official canceled on five Sunday talk shows after Pence's office 'took over'
BY JOE CONCHA - 02/28/20 11:51 AM EST
Rep. John Garamendi (D-Calif.) on Friday said the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases was told to "stand down" and not appear on five Sunday morning talk shows to discuss the coronavirus.
Garamendi told MSNBC's Hallie Jackson that Anthony Fauci was scheduled to do all five major Sunday talk shows, but says Fauci canceled the appearances after Vice President Pence took over the administration's response to the disease. ... Trump on Wednesday named Pence as the official overseeing the government's response.
"I can repeat what he said, he said, 'I was not muzzled. However, I was to go on the Sunday talk shows five of them. The vice president's office then took over the control of this situation, and told me to stand down, not to do those shows,'" Garamendi said, quoting Fauci.
"Now, you can draw your own conclusions whether he was muzzled or not, but clearly he was scheduled to do Sunday talk shows and he was not to proceed with that," the congressman added.

(10,885 posts)There is no way the American public is going to receive unadulterated, timely, and full information on COVID-19 as long as the current administration is in control. What little correct info they disseminate will be a fraction of what we should know in order to be prepared and protected.
They're all liars to the core, and they're already refusing to allow those who may be "in the know" to speak out in video or print.
This is NOT an open administration. We will not hear the truth.

Let the media give them all the time they request. Have open dialogues on air, with Q & A sessions.
If none have the courage and conscience to come forward, then news anchors and frequent public service announcements should update people from foreign sources and name reliable domestic and foreign sources of info to bypass government blockage.

(101,271 posts)in the UK - not just about COVID-19, but about everything. This is because the piece of shit thinks they're biased against him. So we can't get the proper government response on the major public health concern of this time.
So this morning, the BBC Radio 4 presenter had to explain "Number 10 refuses to allow any government minister to come in this programme to talk to our listeners". Instead, they interviewed Jeremy Hunt, former health and foreign secretary, and now chairman of the Commons health committee, who, for all that he was a budget-cutting bastard at Health, at least doesn't hold petty paranoid grudges. He talked perfectly sensibly and informatively.

(101,271 posts)The actual facts don't really matter; they just want to pick off information sources that might hold them to account. This keeps the field clear for their right wing allies like the Daily Mail (which would love for the BBC website to be closed down).
